Dr. Zheng received his Bachelor of Medicine from Jiangxi Medical College (1983), Master of Immunology (1989), and Doctor of Philosophy (1997) at the Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His study is focused on antiviral drugs, primate models for viral infection, pathogenesis of viral diseases, host virus-restricting factors, and viral molecular epidemiology. The researched viruses include HIV, SARS-CoV-2, ZIKV, DENV, and SFTSV. Dr. Zheng has published over 240 peer-reviewed papers as first or corresponding author in SCI journals, including Science, Nat Nanotechnol, Nat Commun, Cell
Res, Nat Sci Rev, Sig Transduct Target Ther, Adv Sci, Cell Mol Immunol, Nucleic Acids Res, J Virol, J Immunol, and authorized 54 patents including 4 PCT patents. Dr. Zheng has received six awards, including The Second Class Prize of The State Scientific and Technological Progress Award (2018) and The First Class Prize of the Yunnan Science and Technology Progress Award (2009).
