This paper presents aspects of monitoring material dust emissions from stationary emission sources (monthly dust measurements performed on cement mill stacks—mill outlet and separator outlet). Additionally, the Portland cement mill technological process (its component parts), as well as the solutions regarding the reduction of the air emissions level, following the emission limit values (VLE), established in the integrated environmental authorization (AIM) from a cement factory in Romania, were analyzed. The paper focused on analyzing the data obtained in three different years for PM10 and dust concentrations (2018–2020). For each year, the measurements have been done in 3 months, each in a different season. The average values for each year for working conditions were: 30.22 mg/m3 (2018), 27.38 mg/m3 (2019), and 27.51 mg/m3 (2020) for working conditions and for normal conditions: 34.22 mg/m3 (2018), 30.49 mg/m3 (2019), and 30.16 mg/m3 (2020). For all 3 years, the values measured in spring were higher than the other two, both for work and normal conditions.

In agrotechnical practice, it was found that between qualitative indices, which express the sowing precision achieved by precision planters determined in the laboratory, and those determined under operating conditions, that there are certain differences, which are sometimes quite significant. The decrease in the value of the quality indices was manifested by the increase of the number of mistakes, either of the number of double planting holes (with at least two seeds), or of the number of missing planting holes. Both cases are unfavorable for the agricultural producer, generating production losses. This paper discusses the influence of the degree of soil grinding on sowing precision in operating conditions, by determining the spectrum of the vibrations induced in the mechanical structure of row units of a precision planter in contact with the soil of three different plots for three working speeds: 4, 6, and 8 km·h−1. Later, the vibrations were simulated under laboratory conditions, on the stand, by means of rubber hemispheres (with diameters between 30 and 100 mm, corresponding to soil fractions resulting from the determination of the degree of soil grinding) mounted on rubber bands, which actuated the seed meters, for testing under an accelerated regime, outside of the optimal agricultural periods (out of season: beginning mid-May until the end of March), in order to obtain the accuracy of the precision planters. It was found that the sowing precision determined in stationary conditions on the stand, and on a plot with an appropriate degree of seedbed preparation, decreased between 2.92% (at 4 km·h−1) and 6.67% (at 8 km·h−1). The main objective of the tests was to reduce labor costs, which was necessary for the staff involved for determining the qualitative indices of work in real field operating conditions, eliminating fuel consumption, while reducing the duration of testing dependent on meteorological factors (season, temperatures, and precipitation, etc.).

Our paper presents the hammer mill working process optimization problem destined for milling energetic biomass (MiscanthusGiganteus and Salix Viminalis). For the study, functional and constructive parameters of the hammer mill were taken into consideration in order to reduce the specific energy consumption. The energy consumption dependency on the mill rotor spinning frequency and on the sieve orifices in use, as well as on the material feeding flow, in correlation with the vegetal biomass milling degree was the focus of the analysis. For obtaining this the hammer mill was successively equipped with 4 different types of hammers that grind the energetic biomass, which had a certain humidity content and an initial degree of reduction ratio of the material. In order to start the optimization process of hammer mill working process, 12 parameters were defined. The objective functions which minimize hammer mill energy consumption and maximize the milled material percentage with a certain specific granulation were established. The results obtained can serve as the basis for choosing the optimal working, constructive, and functional parameters of hammer mills in this field, and for a better design of future hammer mills.

Due to climate change, two-thirds of mankind will face water scarcity by 2025, while by 2050, global food production must increase by at least 50% to feed 9 billion people. To overcome water scarcity, 15 million m3/day of untreated wastewater is used globally for crop irrigation, polluting the soil with pathogens, heavy metals and excess salts. Since 10% of the global population consumes food from crops irrigated with wastewater, pathogens transmitted through the food chain cause diseases especially in young children and women. In this paper, we discuss the status of water scarcity and the challenges to food security, the reuse of wastewater in agriculture and the possible risks to human and environmental health. The efficiency of different irrigation systems in limiting the risks of wastewater reuse and the latest regulations of the European Commission on effluent recovery are also presented. Hence, we emphasize that irrigation offers real perspectives for large-scale recovery of wastewater, helping to reduce the deficit and conserve water resources, and increasing food safety, with the express mention that investments must be made in wastewater treatment plants and wastewater must be properly treated before recovery, to limit the risks on human health and the environment.

From the available statistical data, cement factories co-process a range of over 100 types of waste (sorted both industrial and household) being authorized for their use as combustion components in clinker ovens. Therefore, the level of emissions is different depending on the type of fuels and waste used. The amount of industrial and municipal co-processed waste in the Romanian cement industry from 2004 to 2013 was about 1,500,000 tons, the equivalent of municipal waste generated in a year for 18 cities with over 250,000 inhabitants. The objective of this paper was to evaluate the emission level of hydrochloric acid (HCl) and hydrofluoric acid (HF) at the clinker kilns at two cement factories in Romania for different annual time intervals and to do a comparative analysis, to estimate their compliance with legislation in force. The measurements results showed average emission levels of about 0.578 mg/Nm3 for HCl and about 0.100 mg/Nm3 for HF, in the first hours of the evening, but decreased at the beginning of the third tour, at about 0.385 mg/Nm3 for HCl, respectively, to about 0.085 mg/Nm3 for HF. The evolution of HCl and HF emission levels during the last 4 years showed a variable distribution of these acids.

Conform municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills will continue to be used, in the nearest future, in accordance with environmental protection legislation. Due to this fact, the environmental factors such as: water, air, fauna and vegetation, soil, as well as the human health will be affected. The Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions (CH4, CO2, N2O, other nitrogen oxides, water vapor steams) are taken into consideration being responsible for a great part of the world environmental changes, 3÷5%, approximately. It is to be noted that, on the national territories, the GHG emissions should be considered due to a bad management of those. The MSW landfilling allows collecting landfill gas (LFG) in a place by collection and treatment of CH4, CO2 and H2S, for economical purposes and human beings health protection. Methane (CH4) is a strong GHG but has economical value and in the same time, is an important energetic source. Collecting this gas involves important costs. Waste disposal have to be analyzed from the point of view of its enclosed constituents, humidity kept, permeability, biodegradation rate, compacting density, temperature inside the landfill body and atmospheric pressure variations. This article is dedicated to studying the parameters of LFG collection wells, which are used as part of vertical collection systems. For this purpose, the modeling approaches to the main processes occurring in the porous medium of the landfill (MSW) are taken into account.

Determination of pretzels dough is essential to analyse the technological process, the dough handling behaviour and properties of the finished product. In various processing steps such as kneading, dividing, shaping and baking the dough undergoes different mechanical deformation, including the extent, compression or shear. In the literature there are several methods for analysing these properties. These include empirical rheological methods, such as recording dough evolution during kneading, extensibility measurement or fundamental rheological methods. The study in this paper propose to investigate the behaviour of different types of test dough extensibility and make estimates of the values of the moment (time) and maximum force that wick dough is deformed to appearance of fracture. The maximum elongation of the dough wick is determined for the same values of its initial geometry as well as the other test parameters for two types of dough, one with a composition of 45% water, 10% oil and 45% flour, and another with a composition of 55% water, 10% oil and 35% flour. Preliminary results have found that a dough with more water has a greater tensile strength than the dough with the same amount of oil and less water.

Ensuring for production the necessary quantities of biological material of valuable varieties and hybrids to maintain their initial characteristics requires the permanent application of measures to be carried out on a scientific basis, depending on the biological particularities of the variety or hybrid. The production of seeds for leguminous plants is of great importance because the vast majority of species propagate that way. Due to the fact the yield obtained depends on the quality of the seeds, it is necessary to use seeds of varieties and hybrids with superior qualities and from higher biological categories without foreign bodies (impurities). Knowing the particularities of leguminous plant seed is of special practical importance because the conditioning technologies and machinery are based on it and also the culture technologies that are applied both in the field and in protected areas. The paper presents some theoretical aspects regarding the separation of seed mixtures based on the aerodynamic principle (resistance of the seed mass layer to the air passage, seed floating capacity, air flow working rates, total air flow, physical characteristics of seeds, etc.) which were the basis for designing a conditioning module for vegetable, flower and cereal seeds.

The paper presents several constructive variants of power systems and makes a comparative analysis of them, both constructively and functionally. The kinematic analysis of a bar and lever mechanism is also realized, which is used in a wide range of compaction by translation. Elucidation of the movement of the working organs of these mechanisms is necessary for a good understanding of their operation, but especially for redesigning and improving their functional parameters for a low loss and low energy operation.
