Transportation-related emissions in Pakistan have been rapidly increasing in recent years. This study aims to determine how important it is to electrify road transportation in Pakistan to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the transportation sector. Motivated by the need to tackle the growing environmental issues related to conventional fuel-powered automobiles, this research explores the application of electrification techniques in the context of Pakistan’s transportation system. During the 2019 fiscal year, the transportation industry in Pakistan consumed 23 × 106 tonnes of energy from the burning of fossil fuels and produced 52.9 × 106 metric tons of CO2, which made up 31% of the country’s total carbon emissions. In this research, different scenarios, such as business as usual, low carbon, strengthen low carbon, and Pakistan National Electric Vehicle Policy 2040, are evaluated for the transportation sector of the country. Using the LEAP model, this study projects the effects of electrification on Pakistan road transportation over 30 years. When estimating how electrification will affect road transportation in Pakistan over the next 30 years, several factors were taken into account, including policy frameworks, changing consumer behavior, technology advancements, and infrastructure improvements. The analysis covered the emission levels, adoption hurdles, and possible advantages of transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs). The outcomes illustrate that adopting EVs can produce substantial drops in fuel consumption and environmental emissions, providing a sustainable solution to mitigate global warming. This work is directly associated with various Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG3 (good health and well-being), SDG7 (affordable and clean energy), and SDG13 (climate action). The results of this study highlight the considerable potential for GHG reduction associated with the widespread adoption of EVs, offering crucial insights to stakeholders and policymakers.

In the present work, the solid particle erosion behaviour and wear mechanism of commercial epoxy based unidirectional glass fibre reinforced plastics (GFRP) composites were investigated. The erosion experiments have been carried out using irregular silica sand (SiC) particles (150±15μm) as an erodent. The erosion losses of these composites were evaluated at various impingement angles (30°, 60° and 90°) with the change of both of erosion time and pressure. The erosion behaviour of (GFRP) has changed from ductile to brittle at 60° impingement angle and the erosion loss was the highest. The morphology of eroded surfaces was observed under scanning electron microscope and damage mechanisms were discussed

The adoption and integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) have become essential for the advancement of many industries, unlocking purposeful connections between objects. However, the surge in IoT adoption and integration has also made it a prime target for malicious attacks. Consequently, ensuring the security of IoT systems and ecosystems has emerged as a crucial research area. Notably, advancements in addressing these security threats include the implementation of intrusion detection systems (IDS), garnering considerable attention within the research community. In this study, and in aim to enhance network anomaly detection, we present a novel intrusion detection approach: the Deep Neural Decision Forest-based IDS (DNDF-IDS). The DNDF-IDS incorporates an improved decision forest model coupled with neural networks to achieve heightened accuracy (ACC). Employing four distinct feature selection methods separately, namely principal component analysis (PCA), LASSO regression (LR), SelectKBest, and Random Forest Feature Importance (RFFI), our objective is to streamline training and prediction processes, enhance overall performance, and identify the most correlated features. Evaluation of our model on three diverse datasets (NSL-KDD, CICIDS2017, and UNSW-NB15) reveals impressive ACC values ranging from 94.09% to 98.84%, depending on the dataset and the feature selection method. Notably, our model achieves a remarkable prediction time of 0.1 ms per record. Comparative analyses with other recent random forest and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) based models indicate that our DNDF-IDS performs similarly or even outperforms them in certain instances, particularly when utilizing the top 10 features. One key advantage of our novel model lies in its ability to make accurate predictions with only a few features, showcasing an efficient utilization of computational resources.
