Miguel Marmelo Castro Oliveira is a Doctorate Researcher and Chemical Engineer at ISQ – Instituto de Soldadura e Qualidade. He has obtained his Master degree in Chemical Engineering in 2018 and his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Sustainable Energy Systems in 2023 at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. He is also a member of the Energy Group of CERENA - Centro de Recursos Naturais e Ambiente.
Castro Oliveira has working experience in research and development projects in the areas of energy efficiency, waste heat recovery, process integration, the water–energy nexus, and simulation and optimisation model development. He had created a computational tool designated ThermWatt (intellectual property of ISQ) developed in the Modelica and Python languages, which has been in development since 2019. This tool has since been used for the further development of a specialised and innovative engineering service.
