Sleep disorder is a disease that can be categorized as both an emotional and physical problem. It imposes several difficulties and problems, such as distress during the day, sleep-wake disorders, anxiety, and several other problems. Hence, the main objective of this research was to utilize the strong capabilities of machine learning in the prediction of sleep disorders. In specific, this research aimed to meet three main objectives. These objectives were to identify the best regression model, the best classification model, and the best learning strategy that highly suited sleep disorder datasets. Considering two related datasets and several evaluation metrics that were related to the tasks of regression and classification, the results revealed the superiority of the MultilayerPerceptron, SMOreg, and KStar regression models compared with the other twenty three regression models. Furthermore, IBK, RandomForest, and RandomizableFilteredClassifier showed superior performance compared with other classification models that belonged to several learning strategies. Finally, the Function learning strategy showed the best predictive performance among the six considered strategies in both datasets and with respect to the most evaluation metrics.

The development of e-systems has given consumers and businesses access to a plethora of information, which has complicated the process of decision making. Document classification is one of the main decisions that any business adopts in their decision making to categorize documents into groups according to their structure. In this paper, we combined multi-agent systems (MASs), which is one of the IDSS systems, with Bayesian-based classification to filter out the specialization, collaboration, and privacy of distributed business sources to produce an efficient distributed classification system. Bayesian classification made use of MAS to eliminate distributed sources’ specialization and privacy. Therefore, incorporating the probabilities of various sources is a practical and swift solution to such a problem, where this method works the same when all the data are merged into a single source. Each intelligent agent can collaborate and ask for help from other intelligent agents in classifying cases that are difficult to classify locally. The results demonstrate that our proposed technique is more accurate than those of the non-communicated classification, where the results proved the ability of the utilized productive distributed classification system.

Recommender systems are being increasingly used to predict the preferences of users on online platforms and recommend relevant options that help them cope with information overload. In particular, modern model-based collaborative filtering algorithms, such as latent factor models, are considered state-of-the-art in recommendation systems. Unfortunately, these black box systems lack transparency, as they provide little information about the reasoning behind their predictions. White box systems, in contrast, can, by nature, easily generate explanations. However, their predictions are less accurate than sophisticated black box models. Recent research has demonstrated that explanations are an essential component in bringing the powerful predictions of big data and machine learning methods to a mass audience without compromising trust. Explanations can take a variety of formats, depending on the recommendation domain and the machine learning model used to make predictions. The objective of this work is to build a recommender system that can generate both accurate predictions and semantically rich explanations that justify the predictions. We propose a novel approach to build an explanation generation mechanism into a latent factor-based black box recommendation model. The designed model is trained to learn to make predictions that are accompanied by explanations that are automatically mined from the semantic web. Our evaluation experiments, which carefully study the trade-offs between the quality of predictions and explanations, show that our proposed approach succeeds in producing explainable predictions without a significant sacrifice in prediction accuracy.

The genesis of cancer is a precisely organized process in which normal cells undergo genetic alterations that cause the cells to multiply abnormally, colonize, and metastasize to other organs such as the liver, lungs, colon, and brain. Potential drugs that could modify these carcinogenic pathways are the ones that will be used in clinical trials as anti-cancer drugs. Resveratrol (RES) is a polyphenolic natural antitoxin that has been utilized for the treatment of several diseases, owing to its ability to scavenge free radicals, control the expression and activity of antioxidant enzymes, and have effects on inflammation, cancer, aging, diabetes, and cardioprotection. Although RES has a variety of pharmacological uses and shows promising applications in natural medicine, its unpredictable pharmacokinetics compromise its therapeutic efficacy and prevent its use in clinical settings. RES has been encapsulated into various nanocarriers, such as liposomes, polymeric nanoparticles, lipidic nanocarriers, and inorganic nanoparticles, to address these issues. These nanocarriers can modulate drug release, increase bioavailability, and reach therapeutically relevant plasma concentrations. Studies on resveratrol-rich nano-formulations in various cancer types are compiled in the current article. Studies relating to enhanced drug stability, increased therapeutic potential in terms of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, and reduced toxicity to cells and tissues are the main topics of this research. To keep the readers informed about the current state of resveratrol nano-formulations from an industrial perspective, some recent and significant patent literature has also been provided. Here, the prospects for nano-formulations are briefly discussed, along with machine learning and pharmacometrics methods for resolving resveratrol’s pharmacokinetic concerns.

Jamming is the most critical security threat because the rapid development of new technology, such as smart mobile devices, and ad hoc networks have drawn a lot of interest from the academic community in recent years. Ad hoc protocols represent an important role in the efficient transmission of data across mobile ad hoc protocols (MANET). The choice of a suitable routing protocol is influenced by several variables, including network structure, scalability, mobility, and reliability. In this chapter, the authors employed three protocols: dynamic source routing (DSR), optimized link state routing (OLSR), and temporally ordered routing algorithm (TORA) routing protocols, including distance-vector, link-state, and hybrid protocols are thoroughly analyzed under jamming attack with an emphasis on their advantages, disadvantages, and practical uses. This chapter focuses on these protocols' applicability for various network scenarios with attacks using the network simulator OPNET 14.5.

Cryptography has demonstrated its utility and efficacy in safeguarding confidential data. Among the most potent algorithms for encrypting images is chaos theory, owing to its numerous noteworthy attributes, including high sensitivity to initial conditions and parameters, unpredictability, and nonlinearity. This study employed a two-dimensional logistic chaotic map to encrypt the data. The map utilizes permutation-substitution in the image to ensure both confusion and diffusion, thereby establishing a secure cipher. As measured by UACI and NPCR, this method enables immovability against differential attacks. The assessment of cipher image quality in the USC-SIPI image database involves the utilization of information entropy tests, key space, key sensitivity, APCC, UACI, and NPCR assessments, as determined by experimental findings on test images.
