The highly penetrated distributed generators (DGs) aggravate the voltage violations in active distribution networks (ADNs). The coordination of various regulation devices such as on-load tap changers (OLTCs) and DG inverters can effectively address the voltage issues. Considering the problems of inaccurate network parameters and rapid DG fluctuation in practical operation, multi-source data can be utilized to establish the data-driven control model. In this paper, a data-driven coordinated voltage control method with the coordination of OLTC and DG inverters on multiple time-scales is proposed without relying on the accurate physical model. First, based on the multi-source data, a data-driven voltage control model is established. Multiple regulation devices such as OLTC and DG are coordinated on multiple time-scales to maintain voltages within the desired range. Then, a critical measurement selection method is proposed to guarantee the voltage control performance under the partial measurements in practical ADNs. Finally, the proposed method is validated on the modified IEEE 33-node and IEEE 123-node test cases. Case studies illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, as well as the adaptability to DG uncertainties.

The increased distributed generators (DGs) have exacerbated voltage violations in active distribution networks (ADNs). Local reactive power control of DG inverters can realize a fast response to frequent voltage fluctuations. However, commonly used model-based voltage control depends upon accurate network parameters and entire ADN data, which may cause the sensitive information leakage of ADN and DG behaviors in practical operation. In this article, a cloud-edge collaboration-based local voltage control strategy for DGs is proposed with privacy preservation. First, a local voltage control framework is established based on cloud-edge collaboration, in which a surrogate model is built based on the graph convolutional neural networks to estimate the ADN voltages. By transferring the surrogate model, the edge side can obtain the exact voltage estimation in the local curve tuning process without the authority of the whole ADN data, preserving the network parameters of ADN. Then, the interarea coordination based on federated learning is proposed to realize the parameter updating of DG control curves, which can achieve better voltage control performance. By updating surrogate submodels based on private data distributed across multiple edge devices, federated learning can effectively preserve DG behaviors. Finally, the effectiveness and adaptability of the proposed control strategy are validated using the modified IEEE 33-node system. The proposed local DG control strategy can effectively cope with voltage problems and enhance the adaptability to variations in practical operation states while considering privacy preservation.

With high penetration of flexible resources, operational flexibility of flexible distribution networks (FDNs) is important to ensure high-quality electricity services. This paper proposes a value quantification and analysis method for operational flexibility in FDNs based on distribution locational marginal pricing (DLMP). First, flexibility constraints are formulated from the perspective of node integration, branch transfer, and network aggregation of flexibility. Then, a unified analytical framework for quantifying the operational flexibility is established, in which spatial-temporal transfer of flexibility is modeled with the derivation of flexibility sensitivity factors. Further, a DLMP-based flexibility value quantification model is proposed with nodal net power as the unit for flexibility pricing. The obtained flexibility price can not only quantify flexibility value but also be used to guide the flexible resources. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is validated on a modified IEEE 33-node distribution system and a modified IEEE 123-node distribution system. Results verify that the proposed method can quantify the impact of nodal net power on operational flexibility and effectively improve the overall flexibility performance through the guide of flexibility price.

The flexible distribution network presents a promising architecture to accommodate highly integrated distributed generators and increasing loads in an efficient and cost-effective way. The distribution network is characterised by flexible interconnections and expansions based on soft open points, which enables it to dispatch power flow over the entire system with enhanced controllability and compatibility. Herein, we propose a multi-resource dynamic coordinated planning method of flexible distribution network that allows allocation strategies to be determined over a long-term planning period. Additionally, we establish a probabilistic framework to address source-load uncertainties, which mitigates the security risks of voltage violations and line overloads. A practical distribution network is adopted for flexible upgrading based on soft open points, and its cost benefits are evaluated and compared with that of traditional planning approaches. By adjusting the acceptable violation probability in chance constraints, a trade-off between investment efficiency and operational security can be realised.

The coupling in integrated electricity and gas community energy system (IEGS) provides alternative operation modes when unpredictable outages occur at energy-supply sides. Reasonable operation strategies and system configuration can effectively improve the system's resilience, making reliable and continuous operation feasible. Based on the complementary characteristics and reserve capabilities of IEGS, this paper proposes a multi-stage scheduling strategy for resilience enhancement in which thermal storage serves as emergency response resources. The resilient scheduling framework consists of rolling reserve optimization stage, day-ahead economic dispatch stage and fault restoration stage. With the reserve capacity of energy storage generated by rolling optimization and day-ahead dispatch, multiple forms’ critical loads will be satisfied in priority when outage occurs on energy-supply sides. Furthermore, a two-level planning model integrating the resilient operation strategy is formulated to better adapt to the source emergency. The proposed planning method is applied to an IEGS with practical demands as a case study. The results show that the configuration generated by the two-level planning model can satisfy the daily reserve requirements for emergency failures, and the resilient scheduling strategy with storage reserve can improve the system resilience effectively.
