Dr Olga Ivanova, MD, Phd, ScD, is the Leading Researcher of the Federal State Autonomous Scientific Institution "Chumakov Federal Center for Research and Development of Immune-and-Biological Products of the Russian Academy of Sciences" (Institute of Poliomyelitis), Moscow, Russian Federation. As a virologist and epidemiologist, she has dedicated her work to studying virological, epidemiological and serological aspects of poliovirus and non-polio enterovirus infection.
In 1978, Dr Ivanova graduated as a Medical Doctor from the first Moscow Medical Institute, Department of Sanitary and Hygiene. Dr Ivanova presented her Ph.D. thesis in 1986 and her Sc.D. thesis in 2009. From 1995 to 2013, she headed the WHO Regional Reference Laboratory for Russia and NIS countries for the Polio Eradication Initiative in the European Region at the MP Chumakov Institute of Poliomyelitis. From 2013 to 2016, Dr Ivanova was the Deputy Director for Science at the Enterprise on Manufacture of Bacterial and Viral Preparations of the MP Chumakov Institute of Poliomyelitis. From 2016 to 2018, she was the Acting Director of MP Chumakov Institute of Poliomyelitis, Chumakov Federal Scientific Center for Research and Development of Immune and Biological Products of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Dr Ivanova is a member of the International Health Regulations Emergency Committee for polio (WHO). From 2018, she has been a Professor of the First Moscow State Medical University (Sechenov University), Moscow.
