Shuxun Yu is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as a doctoral supervisor and professor of cotton biology. He is engaged in short-season cotton breeding and molecular biology research. He has initiated cotton genome sequencing and completed Asian cotton (A genome), Raymond cotton (D genome) and upland cotton (AD genome). His current research fields mainly include early maturity of cotton, resistance of cotton seedlings to abiotic stress, and improvement of cotton fiber quality.
