5G technologies provide ubiquitous connectivity. However, 5G security is a particularly important issue. Moreover, because public datasets are outdated, we need to create a self-generated dataset on the virtual platform. Therefore, we propose a two-stage intelligent detection model to enable 5G networks to withstand security issues and threats. Finally, we define malicious traffic detection capability metrics. We apply the self-generated dataset and metrics to thoroughly evaluate the proposed mechanism. We compare our proposed method with benchmark statistics and neural network algorithms. The experimental results show that the two-stage intelligent detection model can distinguish between benign and abnormal traffic and classify 21 kinds of DDoS. Our analysis also shows that the proposed approach outperforms all the compared approaches in terms of detection rate, malicious traffic detection capability, and response time.
In 2016, the IEEE task group ah (TGah) released a new standard called IEEE 802.11ah, and industrial Internet of Things (IoT) is one of its typical use cases. The restricted access window (RAW) is one of the core MAC mechanisms of IEEE 802.11ah, which aims to address the collision problem in the dense wireless networks. However, in each RAW period, stations still need to contend for the channel by Distributed Coordination Function and Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (DCF/EDCA), which cannot meet the real-time requirements of most industrial applications. In this paper, we propose a channel-aware contention window adaption (CA-CWA) algorithm. The algorithm dynamically adapts the contention window based on the channel status with an external interference discrimination ability, and improves the real-time performance of the IEEE 802.11ah. To validate the real-time performance of CA-CWA, we compared CA-CWA with two other backoff algorithms with an NS-3 simulator. The results illustrate that CA-CWA has better performance than the other two algorithms in terms of packet loss rate and average delay. Compared with the other two algorithms, CA-CWA is able to support industrial applications with higher deadline constraints under the same channel conditions in IEEE 802.11ah.
Software Defined Satellite Networks (SDSN) are proposed to solve the problems in traditional satellite networks, such as time-consuming configuration and inflexible traffic scheduling. The emerging application of small satellite and research of SDSN make it possible for satellite networks to provide flexible network services. Service Function Chain (SFC) can satisfy this need. In this paper, we are motivated to investigate applying SFC in the small satellite-based SDSN for service delivery. We introduce the structure of the multi-layer constellation-based SDSN. Then, we describe two deployment patterns of SFC in SDSN, the Multi-Domain (MD) pattern and the Satellite Formation (SF) pattern. We propose two algorithms, SFP-MD, and SFP-SF, to calculate the Service Function Path (SFP). We implement the algorithms and conduct contrast experiments in our prototype. Finally, we summarize the applicable conditions of two deployment patterns according to the experimental results in terms of hops, delay, and packet loss rate.
