Dimitrios Magouliotis is currently a fifth-year CT Surgery resident and works in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, University Hospital of Larissa. After he graduated from Medical School in 2016, he completed a sub-internship in general and laparoscopic surgery at the Bnai Zion Medical Center, Haifa, Israel. Following his internship, he continued his postgraduate studies with an M.Sc. Degree in “Clinical Applications of Molecular Medicine” at the University of Thessaly, Larissa, Greece, in collaboration with the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University (10/17-11/18). He began his seven-year cardiothoracic residency program (three years in general surgery and four years in cardiothoracic surgery) in the Department of Surgery, University Hospital of Larissa, in February 2017. In 2020, he completed his second M.Sc. Degree in Perioperative Medicine at University College London (UCL). Since November 2020, he has been allocated to the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, University of Thessaly, under the supervision of Prof. Thanos Athanasiou. In March 2023, he successfully defended his Ph.D. Thesis in the establishment of patient-derived xenografts as preclinical models of cancer at the University of Thessaly. His research interests include cardiothoracic surgery, surgical oncology, and transplantations.
