Dr. Mamo Gebrezgiabher Beyene is an Assit. Professor of Inorganic chemistry at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University. He completed his Master's degree in the field of Inorganic Chemistry from Haramaya University, College of Natural and Computational Science, Department of Chemistry in 2012. In September 2014, he won the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship Award to pursue research in Inorganic chemistry until September 2015 at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETHZ) Zurich, Switzerland. From, October 2017- November 2022, he has been working a researcher in the area of coordination compounds and their magnetism behaviors under the supervision of Dr. Madhu Thomas (Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry) at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University during his Ph.D stay. Additionally, he has been awarded a National Scholarship Program of Slovakia 2021 to conduct in the research area of his Ph.D. work at UCM Trenva, Slovakia under the supervision of Prof. Roman Boca from April 2021- October 2021. His dissertation title was “Synthesis and Characterization of Lanthanide-Based Molecular Magnetic Materials with Salicylaldehyde–Based Ligand”.
His research interests include multifunctional rare-earth and mixed metal complexes at a molecular level: Designing, synthesis and characterization of lanthanide and mixed metal based magnetic materials from well-designed Schiff base organic ligands/other type of ligands for possible applications of in data storage.
