Mario Salmona is the Head of the Department of Molecular Biochemistry and Pharmacology at the Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche Mario Negri. He obtained his PhD. degree in Biochemical Pharmacology in 1974. In the years 1978–1980, he spent two years as a post-doc fellow at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel. His main research topic is the study of the role of misfolded proteins in the onset and progression of neurological diseases. He has published more than 400 papers, and his H-index is 72 (Google scholar).
