Alexandre Presas is a Director of CDIF-UPC and an Associate Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC, Serra Hunter Programme). His teaching disciplines include Fluid Mechanics (Bachelor's degree) and Hydraulic Machinery (Master's degree). He holds a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering (field of fluid mechanics) from the UPC and was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) for two years. His main research line focuses on renewable energies and flexibility of the electrical grid. Currently, he is interested in applying artificial intelligence techniques in order to improve the condition monitoring of turbomachinery and the early detection of critical problems such as fatigue damage and instabilities.
