The application of chemical flooding improves the stability of the produced emulsion, which reduces the demulsification efficiency of conventional demulsifiers. To improve the demulsification effect, in this paper, a new multibranched nonanionic polyether demulsifier, FYJP, was prepared by grafting carboxylate based on a nonionic demulsifier. The FYJP demulsifier could generate an initiator through p-tert-butylphenol, triethylenetetramine, and methanol, which was polymerized with ethylene oxide (EO) and propylene oxide (PO) to produce a nonionic polyether demulsifier. Sodium chloroacetate was used to modify the polyether demulsifier to obtain a new type of nonanionic polyether demulsifier. The FYJP polyether demulsifier was characterized by the hydrophilic–lipophilic balance (HLB) value, relative solubility (RSN), and surface activity of the demulsifier, and the demulsification mechanism was analyzed by a microscopic demulsification process test, and the effect of demulsifier dosage on the demulsification effect was discussed. Meanwhile, a dehydration test was carried out. The experimental results showed that the highest dehydration rate of the demulsifier was 94.7% at 85 °C, 100 ppm demulsifier dosage, 50 mL of a W/O emulsion, and 120 min demulsification time. The abovementioned studies show that FYJP is an effective demulsifier for chemical flooding emulsions, and this work promises to provide a reference for future demulsifier research.

To improve the safety of ammonium nitrate explosives, the melamine urea-formaldehyde resin (MUF resin) was selected for the preparation of three typical nitramine explosives (cyclotetramethylenetetranitramine, HMX; cryclo-trimethylenetrinitramine, RDX; and hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane, CL-20) based green polymer-bonded explosives (GPBXs) via interfacial polymerization. Meanwhile, the corresponding composite particles prepared by physical mixing and drying bath methods were studied and compared. The particle morphology, crystal structure, thermal stability, and safety performance of the resultant composite particles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra, differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and impact sensitivity test, respectively. SEM results showed that MUF was successfully coated on the surface of the three explosives, and different composite particles prepared by the same method have their own unique characteristics. Such effect is attributed to the resin’s ability to isolate and buffer external stimuli. It is obvious that the interfacial polymerization is an effective desensitization technique to prepare core-shell composite particles for explosives.

Various flooding technologies were applied in the middle and late stages of the oilfield, which made the heavy oil emulsion receive much concern because of its high stability and separation difficulty. In our paper, alcohol molecules were used as initiators and multibranched block copolymers were synthesized through open-loop polymerization technology. A variety of novel modified block polyether demulsifiers with demulsification activity were finally synthesized through water-soluble modification and oil-soluble modification, which achieved efficient demulsification of heavy oil emulsions. Hydrophile–lipophile balance (HLB) values and surface tension were used to characterize demulsifiers. In addition, their demulsification efficiency was evaluated by measuring the amount of dehydration in the separated heavy oil emulsion experiments. The experimental results showed that within 5 h, the demulsification effect of the water-soluble demulsifier is better than that of the oil-soluble demulsifier. When the HLB value of the demulsifier reaches a certain value, the dehydration rate and the demulsification effect reach the highest point. When the amount of demulsifier is 50 μg/g and the demulsification temperature is 85 °C, the dehydration rate of the water-soluble demulsifier X-6 reached 91%, the water quality was clear, and the demulsification effect reached its peak. This work will provide a novel and efficient demulsifier for demulsification and dehydration of heavy oil emulsions.

Microbial Induced Calcite Precipitation (MICP) is a biochemical process widely found in nature, also known as microbial mineralization. This paper investigates whether this process can help promote the intelligent reinforcement and repair of underground projects such as mines and tunnels. We selected Bacillus sphaericus and Bacillus mucilaginosus as the research objects. The former has an outstanding urease production ability, and the latter can secrete carbonic anhydrase in vitro. Bacillus mucilaginosus was introduced into the culture solution of Bacillus sphaericus in the most suitable culture environment, and the changes of mineralization rate and mineralization yield of Bacillus sphaericus were observed and analyzed. The results revealed that, to maintain the highest growth rate of Bacillus sphaericus, the optimal pH value was between 7 and 8, the optimal urea concentration was 0.5 mol/L, the optimal Ca2+ concentration was 0.6 mol/L, and the optimal Luria‐Bertani (LB) culture concentration was 20 g/L. The amount of biomineralized calcium carbonate precipitated in the double bacteria solution can reach 1.89 times the amount of the precipitation in the Bacillus sphaericus solution under the same conditions. It concludes that the introduction of Bacillus mucilaginosus can effectively increase the mineralization yield of Bacillus sphaericus without affecting the mineralized products.

This report has developed a facile “green mechanical demulsification technology” which can emulsify submicron CL-20 particles greenly and submicron ε-CL-20 particles with stable crystal structure and favorable morphology were successfully prepared by this means. Simultaneously, CL-20 was also refined by spray recrystallization method and jet recrystallization method for better comparison. Structural characterizations and thermal stability of the composites were systematically studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). Moreover, the safety performance was analyzed by qualitative testing of impact sensitivity and friction sensitivity. Compared with the raw CL-20, submicron CL-20 particles fabricated via the green mechanical demulsification technique were compact spheres with ε-CL-20 crystal form. The CL-20 refined by the spray recrystallization method and the spray recrystallization method exhibited irregular blocky structure and agglomerated needle-like structure, respectively. And the crystal forms of both CL-20 particles were converted from ε-CL-20 to β-CL-20. The activation energy of CL-20 refined via green mechanical demulsification technology was increased from 179.42 kJ/mol to 198.40 kJ/mol, thus enhancing the thermal stability. However, the thermal stability of the refined β-CL-20 showed a distinct decrease due to the transformation of the crystal structure. More importantly, the refined CL-20 particles possessed much lower impact sensitivity. The proposal of green mechanical demulsification method has availably settled the problems that the CL-20, with irregular morphology, is prone to crystal transformation, agglomeration, and environmental pollution. And there is a significant possibility that it is a promising green technology with comprehensive application foreground.
