The rapid detection of asphalt content in asphalt mixture is of great significance to the quality evaluation of asphalt pavement. Based on the dielectric properties of an asphalt mixture, the prediction model of asphalt content is deduced theoretically using three types of dielectric models: Lichtenecker‐Rother (L‐R) model, Rayleigh model, and Bottcher equation. Under the condition of laboratory mixing at room temperature (about 20–25°C), a dielectric test of asphalt mixture is conducted to verify the applicability of the model. The test results indicate that the dielectric constant of the asphalt mixture is inversely proportional to the asphalt content and directly proportional to the aggregate size of the mixture. Among the models, the Rayleigh model has a wide range of applications and exhibits a high accuracy, with an average relative error of only 1.86%. The results provide a theoretical basis for the nondestructive testing of asphalt pavements using ground‐penetrating radar.

The seepage evolution characteristics and stability change rule of granite residual soil inside the high cutting slope under the action of rainfall infiltration were studied. Based on the saturated-unsaturated seepage theory, the numerical simulation of the rainwater infiltration path inside the granite residual soil slope was carried out under the condition of rainwater infiltration. The evolution characteristics of the seepage field of the granite residual soil cutting high slope under the condition of rainfall infiltration were revealed, and the influence of the rainwater infiltration on the stability of the granite residual soil slope was mainly studied. The research results show that with the accumulation of rainfall infiltration, the pore water pressure of the granite residual soil slope increases continuously, and the pore water pressure of the soil below the platform increases the fastest. With the increase in elevation, the water content of the slope presents a wave crest distribution. In the early stage of rainfall, the seepage velocity vector distribution on the slope surface is relatively uniform. In the middle stage of rainfall, the seepage velocity vector is the most dense at the platform, and the rainwater migration rate is accelerated. In the later stage of rainfall, the infiltrated rainwater at the slope angle of the first-level slope spreads to the surrounding area. With the continuous rainfall, the slope stability safety factor gradually decreased unevenly, and after the rainfall stopped, it gradually increased with the rainwater infiltration.
In this work, we studied the effects of different reinforcements on a metal matrix composite (MMC) using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, where graphene was chosen as the two-dimensional (2D) material and diamond was selected as the three-dimensional (3D) material. Sintering and tensile processes were conducted on the MMC models containing reinforcements of various sizes, and the effects of reinforcements with the same surface area were compared. The results indicated that the 2D material was more beneficial for sintering at the heating stage, producing a higher-density structure. The volume of Al atoms fell from 752 to 736 nm3 as the graphene size in the composite system increased. However, a slight increase from 749 to 755 nm3 was observed when the diamond radius was small. Converted to relevant metrics in the experiments, the density of the composite reached 2.84 g/cc with a 3.3 wt.% addition of single-layer graphene (SLG) and 2.87 g/cc with a 15.4 wt.% addition of diamond, and the results were slightly higher than the experimental reports. Both SLG and diamond could reduce the number of arranged Al atoms from 43,550 to approximately 35,000, and bilayer graphene (BLG) with the largest size could further decrease the number of arranged atoms to nearly 30,000, implying that grain refinement could be obtained by increasing the surface area of reinforcements. Considering the scale of these models, the reinforcement size and pore location in the initial structures were deemed to have an impact on the mechanical properties. The composite with the largest proportion of SLG showed an increase of more than 1.6 GPa in tensile strength; however, BLG showed a significant drop of 1.9 GPa when stretched in the normal direction, as the large interlayer space acted as a large hole in tension. The diamond size did not appear to affect the strengthening effects. Nevertheless, the elongation values of composites with graphene were generally 35% higher than the Al-diamond composites.
The establishment of a dielectric model of the asphalt pavement surface material is the premise and key to applying the electromagnetic wave technology to asphalt pavement nondestructive testing. Asphalt pavement can be made of different materials, including various types of asphalt mixtures. Therefore, in order to study and analyze the dielectric properties of different types of asphalt mixtures and establish a dielectric model of the asphalt pavement surface material, this paper studies four types of asphalt mixtures commonly used in the asphalt pavement surface course. Based on the comparative analysis of three classical models, the complex refractive index method (CRIM), Brown, and Looyenga; based on the L‐R model, the linear regression analysis was conducted on the test data. The dielectric models which are suitable for the interpretation of four types of asphalt mixtures were established, and the dielectric model database of asphalt pavement surface materials was extended, which provides theoretical and technical support for nondestructive testing of the asphalt pavement.

Polymer grouting materials have been widely used in road repair projects. In order to study the application of polymer grouting materials in repairing the joint cracks and voids of new and old subgrades in the reconstruction and expansion projects of expressways. According to the phenomenon investigation data, ABAQUS finite element software was used to establish a three-dimensional road mechanical response analysis model, and the mechanical response characteristics of the road before and after polymer grouting were systematically analyzed. The research results of the road which was repaired by polymer grouting show that the shear force between the polymer grouting material and the materials on both sides of the old and new subgrades can repair the cracks at the joint and the diseases in the void area of the new subgrade, so as to reduce the displacement and settlement of the road surface. The maximum dynamic stress peak value of the old and new subgrade road surfaces is located at the load action position, and with the increase of the distance from the load action position, the dynamic stress peak value gradually decreases, showing an M-shaped distribution as a whole. The original stress transfer law of the road structure was changed, so that the dynamic stress of the new subgrade is significantly smaller than that of the old subgrade. The critical surface formed between polymer grouting material and subgrade material has a certain shear strength, which reduces the tensile stress and strain between structural layers. It will improve the bearing capacity of the subgrade and at the same time provide a practical reference for the treatment of longitudinal cracks in the reconstruction and expansion of expressway.
In order to study the seepage process of rainwater on granite residual soil cut slopes, a numerical model for seepage analysis of granite residual soil cut slopes was established. Then, by applying the rainfall boundary condition, the seepage path of rainwater on the slope was analyzed under the condition of rainfall infiltration. Finally, during rainwater seepage, the volumetric water content and pore-water pressure change characteristics inside the slope were analyzed, and the seepage mechanism of rainwater in the granite residual soil slope was revealed. The results show that, under the condition of rainfall infiltration, the surface area of the slope gradually forms a saturated area in a temporary stable state. As the saturated area in the temporary stable state gradually extends to the inside of the slope, the area gradually increases and a groundwater level recharge area is gradually formed at the foot of the slope. Rainwater infiltration changes the original stable state of the slope, causing the granite residual soil slope to change from the two original distribution states of the unsaturated area and saturated area to the three distribution states of the temporarily stable saturated area, unsaturated area, and saturated area from top to bottom. The volumetric moisture content of slope-monitoring points increased gradually with an increase in the duration, and the overall distribution showed an “S” shape. The infiltration of rainwater causes the pore-water pressure of the granite residual soil to increase gradually, and matric suction gradually disappears. In particular, the disappearance of the matric suction at the foot of the slope will lead to the gradual weakening of the shear strength of the slope soil, thus affecting the slope stability.
