Prof. Dario Ambrosini received the "Laurea" degree (equivalent to MS) in Electronic Engineering from the Sapienza University of Rome (Italy). In 1995, he joined the University of L'Aquila (Italy), where he is currently Full Professor of Thermal Sciences, Energy Systems and Building Physics, and Head of the LAS.E.R. Laboratory and of the "Gino Parolini" Technical Physics Laboratory. His research interests include non-conventional optical imaging and diagnostics (speckle-pattern interferometry, background-oriented schlieren, infrared thermography, thermal quasi-reflectography), flow visualization, heat and mass transfer, building physics, and non-destructive diagnostic methods for cultural heritage. He is a Fellow of SPIE and of Optica (formerly OSA), a recipient of the SPIE Rudolf and Hilda Kingslake Award in Optical Design (2001), and is listed among the Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists. He serves as Deputy Editor of Optics and Lasers in Engineering (Editor, 2025; Associate Editor, 2019–2024; Editorial Board Member, 2007–2019), and is an Editorial Board Member of Energies. He is a member of UIT (Italian Union of Thermal-Fluid Dynamics), ATI (Associazione Termotecnica Italiana), Sigma Xi, and FTI (Associazione della Fisica Tecnica Italiana).
