In recent times, selection of a suitable hotel location and reservation of accommodation have become a critical issue for the travelers. The online hotel search has been increased at a very fast pace and became very time-consuming due to the presence of huge amount of online information. Recommender systems (RSs) are getting importance due to their significance in making decisions and providing detailed information about the required product or a service. To acquire the hotel recommendations while dealing with textual hotel reviews, numerical ranks, votes, ratings, and number of video views have become difficult. To generate true recommendations, we have proposed an intelligent approach which also deals with large-sized heterogeneous data to fulfill the needs of the potential customers. The collaborative filtering (CF) approach is one of the most popular techniques of the RS to generate recommendations. We have proposed a novel CF recommendation approach in which opinion-based sentiment analysis is used to achieve hotel feature matrix by polarity identification. Our approach combines lexical analysis, syntax analysis, and semantic analysis to understand sentiment towards hotel features and the profiling of guest type (solo, family, couple etc). The proposed system recommends hotels based on the hotel features and guest type for personalized recommendation. The developed system not only has the ability to handle heterogeneous data using big data Hadoop platform but it also recommends hotel class based on guest type using fuzzy rules. Different experiments are performed over the real-world datasets obtained from two hotel websites. Moreover, the values of precision and recall and F-measure have been calculated, and the results are discussed in terms of improved accuracy and response time, significantly better than the traditional approaches.
In the recent past, a few fire warning and alarm systems have been presented based on a combination of a smoke sensor and an alarm device to design a life-safety system. However, such fire alarm systems are sometimes error-prone and can react to non-actual indicators of fire presence classified as false warnings. There is a need for high-quality and intelligent fire alarm systems that use multiple sensor values (such as a signal from a flame detector, humidity, heat, and smoke sensors, etc.) to detect true incidents of fire. An Adaptive neuro-fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is used in this paper to calculate the maximum likelihood of the true presence of fire and generate fire alert. The novel idea proposed in this paper is to use ANFIS for the identification of a true fire incident by using change rate of smoke, the change rate of temperature, and humidity in the presence of fire. The model consists of sensors to collect vital data from sensor nodes where Fuzzy logic converts the raw data in a linguistic variable which is trained in ANFIS to get the probability of fire occurrence. The proposed idea also generates alerts with a message sent directly to the user’s smartphone. Our system uses small size, cost-effective sensors and ensures that this solution is reproducible. MATLAB-based simulation is used for the experiments and the results show a satisfactory output.
In this modern age of technology, the Internet of things has covered all aspects of life including smart situations, smart homes, and smart spaces. Smart homes have a large number of IoT objects that are working continuously without any interruption. Better security and authentication of these smart devices can provide peaceful environments to live in such spaces. It is important to monitor the activities of smart IoT devices to make them work fault free. Such devices are small, consume relatively less power and resources, and are easily attackable by attackers. It is crucial to protect the integrity and characteristics of the smart home environment from external attacks. Machine Learning played a vital role in recognizing such malicious activities and attempts. Several Machine Learning approaches are available to detect the normal and abnormal behavior of IoT device traffic. This study proposed a machine learning-based anomaly detection approach for smart homes using different classifiers. Testing and evaluation are performed using the University of New South Wales (UNSW) BoT IoT dataset. Machine learning models based on four classifiers are built using an IoT devices dataset. For the Test dataset, the Weighted Precision, Recall and F1 score of Random forest, decision tree, and AdaBoost is 1 as compared to ANN which has 0.98, 0.96, and 0.96 respectively Results show that high performance, precision, and robustness can be achieved using the proposed methodology. In this way, smart homes’ security and identity of devices can be monitored and anomalies can be detected with high accuracy. Attack categories include binary class, multiclass class, and subclasses. Results show Random Forest algorithm outperforms enough to use this methodology in smart environments.
An app store (i.e., Google Play) is a platform for mobile apps for almost every software and service. App stores allow users to browse and download apps and facilitate developers to keep an eye on their apps by providing ratings and reviews of the apps. App reviews may include the user’s experience, information about bugs, request for new features, or rating of the app in word. The manual categorization of app reviews is critical and time-consuming for developers. Automatic classification of app reviews may help developers especially for fixing bugs on time. In this perspective, several approaches have been proposed for the automatic classification of reviews. However, none of them exploits the non-textual information of app reviews. In this paper, we propose a deep learning based approach for the classification of app reviews. It does not only leverage non-textual information of app reviews but also exploits a deep learning technique that has proved more accurate for the text classification in various domains. The approach first extracts textual and nontextual information of each app review, preprocesses the textual information, computes the sentiment of app reviews using Senti4SD, and determines the history of the reviewer includes the total number of reviews posted by the reviewer, and his submission rate (i.e., what percentages of his review have been submitted for the associated app). Second, we create a digital vector against each app review. Finally, we train a deep learning based multi-class classifier to classify app reviews. The proposed approach is evaluated on a public dataset, and the results suggest that it significantly improves the state of the art. It improves average precision from 75.72% to 95.49%, average recall from 69.40% to 93.94%, and f-measure from 72.41% to 94.71%, respectively.
Getting quality sleep is important for every person to get better physical health. Irregular sleep patterns may indicate the illness resulting in chronic depression, which makes the evaluation of the sleep cycle mandatory for a healthy body and mind. In the arena of globalization, along with the increased facilities, various other challenges have been probed to provide the quality health care facilities with the use of economical instruments and technology. The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology purports the preambles to build a consistent and cost-effective system to monitor the sleep quality of patients. Several other systems are available for this purpose; however, such systems are very costly and difficult to implement. To overcome the issue, this study suggests an inventive system to monitor and analyze the sleep patterns using ambient parameters. The proposed system is effective enough that it can proficiently monitor patient’s sleep using Commercial off the Shelf (COS) sensors as well as predicts the results using the intelligent capability of the random forest model. The patient’s bio status including physical movement of the body, heartbeat, SPO2 level (oxygen saturation in the blood for the proper functioning of the body), and snoring patterns could be measured through this system, in which recorded data is transmitted to the computer system in a real-time environment. This system consists of two parts. One part consists of analyzing the behavior of data using the intelligent technique of the random forest model and decision rules in a real-time environment. This real-time analysis notifies the caretaker about the situation of the patient. In the second part, batch data processing is performed which allows the detailed analysis of data using statistical methods to produce the overall condition of the patient in a specified interval of time. Through the proposed system, we can easily measure the sleep patterns of patients and provide them with better treatment by using this simple and cost-effective system. The result of the conducted research shows that the proposed technique provides 95% accuracy. The patient’s sleep data is used to test this method through the validation of manual results, which provides the minimum error rate. This study highlights the implementation of an intelligent and smart sleep quality monitoring system using IoT on a variant number of people with minimum expense rate.
Recommendation services become a critical and hot research topic for researchers. A recommendation agent that automatically suggests products to users according to their tastes or preferences instead of wandering in a huge corpus for a product. Social data such as Reviews play an important role in the recommendation of products. Improvement was achieved by neural network methods for capturing user and product information from a short text. However, such approaches do not fairly and efficiently incorporate users’ preferences and product characteristics. We are proposing the novel Hybrid Neural Collaborative Filtering (HNCF) model that combines deep learning capabilities and deep interaction modelling for recommender systems with a rating matrix. To overcome the cold start problem, we use the new overall rating by aggregating the multivariate rating MR (votes, likes, stars and sentiment scores of reviews) from different external data sources because different sites have different rating scores about the same product. The propose novel model consists of four major modules HUAPA-DCF+NSC+MR (Hierarchical User Attention and Hierarchical Product Attention, Deep Collaborative Filtering, Neural Sentiment Classifier, and multivariant rating) to solve the addressed problems. Initially, the HUAPA module is based on BiLSTM’s hierarchical user attention (HUA) and hierarchical product attention (HPA) to embed the user preferences and product characteristics respectively. Further, these are combined nonlinear representations and fed as input to the interaction module. Secondly, the deep collaborative filtering module is implemented to find the explicit interaction between user and product. Thirdly, NSC module will extract the user’s semantic about products by incorporating the user’s preferences and product characteristics. Finally, the module uses explicit information (multivariant rating) to the maximum extent for final classification. Experimental results demonstration that our novel model is outperforming than state-of-the-art at IMDb, Yelp2013 and Yelp2014 datasets for the true recommendation of top-n products using HNCF (HUAPA+DCF+NSC+MR) to increase the accuracy, confidence, and trust on recommendation services.
