Flaviana Calignano is an Associate Professor at the
Department of Management and Production Engineering (DIGEP), Politecnico di
Torino. She received the M.Sc. in 2005 in management and industrial engineering
and the Ph.D. in 2008 in industrial production systems engineering, both at the
Politecnico di Torino, Turin, Italy. From 2005 to 2011, she worked on virtual
reality in the study of facial morphology, web-based interactive 3D models for
design and training, and virtual machines for the simulation of machining,
reverse engineering, and workability of aluminum alloys. She joined the
Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in 2012. She is a member of the
Interdepartmental Center IAM@PoliTo-Integrated Additive Manufacturing and
Quality Assurance Monitoring Committee. Her research activity in the Additive
Manufacturing/3D Printing research line of the Center for Sustainable Futures
CSF@POLITO is focused on designing complex parts to be fabricated through
additive manufacturing (AM), on the study and the definition of design rules
for AM, and the final surface optimization of the parts after 3D printing.
