Goreti Sales is a full professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Coimbra, and the coordinator of the BioMark Research Group at the University of Coimbra (BioMark@ UC). She obtained a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1994 and a PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry in 2000, both from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto. Her research interests are mainly focused on biomimetic nanomaterials and biosensors. In 2012, she received a Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) for a new engineering approach combining biosensors with solar cells. She coordinated the FET Open project MindGAP (H2020) and was appointed EIC National Champion (for Portugal) by the European Innovation Council in 2021.
