Rice threshing drum of combine harvester is difficult to monitor and repair the abnormal state in time. When slippage or blockage occurs in the threshing drum, the working efficiency of the threshing drum will reduce seriously, such as the threshing efficiency will decline seriously, and then cleaning performance of combine harvester will decline. In order to reveal the vibration characteristics of rice threshing drum under different working conditions and the vibration response state of the drum bearing undergoing different faults occur, the vibration system model of the threshing drum is established in this paper. With the help of the vibration test bench of the multi-stage threshing drum, the vibration signal test of the slippage and blockage of the threshing drum under the belt drive mode is carried out. The results show that the Z direction signal has a vibration peak at the low frequency (25 Hz) when the threshing drum is blocked, the maximum vibration displacement is about 0.55 mm; the Z direction signal signal peak is concentrated at 50 Hz when a slip fault occurs, and the maximum vibration displacement is about 0.184 mm, the fitting effect between frequency and mathematical model is good. The results of this paper reveal the vibration characteristics of the threshing drum under different abnormal working conditions, at the same time provide a theoretical basis for the fault diagnosis of the threshing drum of the combine harvester.
Feeding rates serve as a vital indicator for adjusting the working parameters of the combine harvester. A non-invasive diagnostic approach to predicting the feed rates of combine harvesters by collecting vibration signals of the inclined conveyor was introduced in this study. To establish a feed rate prediction model, the correlation between feeding rates and vibration signal characteristics was investigated. Vibration signal characteristics in both the time domain and frequency domain were also analyzed in detail. The RMS (root mean square) value and the total RMS value of the one-third octave extracted from the vibration signal were utilized to establish a feed rate prediction model, and field tests were conducted to verify the model performance. The experimental results indicated that the relative errors of the established model range from 3.1% to 4.9% when harvesting rice. With the developed feed rate prediction system, the control system of the combine harvester can acquire feed rate information in real time, and the working parameters can be adjusted in advance, thereby, it can be expected to greatly enhance the working performance of the combine harvesters.
The threshing gap of the thresher device for rice combine harvester has to be adjusted in real time based on different feed rates to ensure the operation efficiency in the harvesting process. However, adjusting the threshing gap by changing the position of concave grid may result in unevenness of threshing gap of the thresher device and further impact on the fluidity of material in the thresher device; in addition, it is also unavailable to adjust the threshing gap by changing the drum diameter when the rice combine harvester is in operation. In view of the above and based on axial flow threshing drum, the design of a variable-diameter threshing drum available for overall and rapid drum diameter adjustment and the research on diameter adjustment device as well as electronic control self-locking device were introduced in this study. Besides, stress analysis was implemented to the diameter adjustment device to ensure the stability of the variable-diameter threshing drum. Field experiment was implemented to identify the difference between the impacts brought to the threshing performance (grain-entrainment loss rate, damage rate, threshing efficiency, and threshing power consumption) by both methods for threshing gap adjustment. The experiment result shows that the drum adjustment method with variable-diameter drum features higher grain-entrainment loss rate, threshing efficiency, and threshing power consumption, yet stable in terms of consumption fluctuation, but a lower damage rate than their counterparts with concave adjustment method.
As a result of the uneven growth of rice, unbalanced vibration of threshing drum caused by stalk entanglement in combine harvester is more and more severe. In order to reveal the influence of unbalanced excitation on the roller axis locus during rice threshing, the stability of threshing drum was studied. The dynamic signal test and analysis system are used to test the axial trajectory of threshing drum. At the same time, the influence of the unbalanced excitation caused by the axis winding on the axis trajectory is analyzed by the experimental results. Axis locus rules under no-load and threshing conditions are obtained. In order to simulate the axial and radial distribution of unbalanced excitation along the threshing drum, the counterweight was distributed on the threshing drum instead of the entangled stalk. Then, the definite effect of unbalanced excitation on the rotating stability of threshing drum is analyzed. Results show that the amplitude of stem winding along the grain drum is larger in the vertical direction and smaller in the horizontal direction when compared with the unloaded state under 200 g weight. It was found that the amplitude in both horizontal and vertical directions decreased after 400 g and 600 g counterweights were added, respectively, to simulate the radial distribution of stalk winding along the grain barrel. Finally, it can be seen that with the increase in the weight of the counterweight, the characteristics of the trajectory misalignment of the threshing cylinder axis become more and more obvious. This study can provide reference for reducing the unbalanced excitation signal of threshing drum and improving driving comfort.
The solidification and molding of straw has been an effective method for comprehensive utilization of straw resources. However, the existing die-roll extrusion-type straw briquetting machine has challenges, such as the easy blockage of ring die holes and the unstable quality of the briquette. In this paper, the influence of four factors, including moisture content of straw, molding temperature, clearance between die and roller, and spindle speed on the quality of the briquette were studied. The regression model of the relaxed density and impact resistance of the briquette were established to obtain the optimal values of these factors to provide the best parameters for producing straw briquette. The results indicate that under the experimental conditions of moisture content 22.335%, temperature 85.127 °C, clearance between die and roller 3.099 mm, and spindle speed 172.712 r/min, the maximum relaxed density and impact resistance of the briquette were 1.144 g/cm3 and 74.76%, respectively. The performance of the briquette already meets the requirements for combustion, transportation, and storage.
