Aiming at the existing single-motor agricultural tractors, which often have a mismatch between power and working conditions and a poor operation effect under different tillage modes, this paper designs a torque allocation strategy for agricultural electric tractors under different tillage modes. Firstly, the torque is divided into basic and compensating, and a calculation model is established. Then, the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm is used to find the optimal demand torque position, and fuzzy control rules allocate the motor torque in combination with the battery SOC. Finally, the strategy’s effectiveness in different tillage modes is verified by MATLAB/Simulink simulation and bench test. The test results show that the strategy can distribute the motor torque stably according to the load torque change and pedal opening under three PTO transitions and the plowing and rotary tillage modes. The main and speed control motors respond in about 3 s with good real-time performance. The drive wheel torque can reach 1600 N·m during plowing and rotating operation. The PTO torque can reach 60 N·m during the rotating process. The maximum torque of the output shaft can reach 150 N·m with good plowing performance. During all operations, the SOC of the battery shows a steady linear decrease, and the battery discharge has stability.

The complex mechanical system of a rice combine harvester not only has various excitation sources, but also, the vibration transmission path between each working device and the vibration contribution characteristics to the frame are not clear, so it is difficult to perform a reduction vibration design for the sharp vibration of the rice combine harvester frame. Therefore, based on the comparison and improvement of multiple classical transfer path analysis methods, this paper analyzed the vibration transfer characteristics and transfer characteristics of each harvester by the discrete time matrix method and operating path method. In the Experimental section, through the vibration characteristic experiment firstly, this paper obtained the power spectrum variation and the most needed optimized path in the transmission path of each device under each operating condition. Secondly, through frame simulation analysis under the exciting force, we obtained the vibration damping areas that needs to be optimized. Finally, the damping optimization experiment connected with the vibration characteristic experiment, and the excitation force simulation analysis was performed. The results of the damping optimization experiment displayed that the maximum change value of the vibration acceleration of the cutting table decreased from 7.862 m·s−2 to 3.522 m·s−2, decreasing by 55.2%, and the peak amplitude of the multipoint test in the cab was 5.4, 5.3, 1.7 and 2.0 μm, respectively, which was significantly reduced, so the optimization effect was significant. This study provides theoretical support for the vibration reduction optimization of a rice combine harvester frame.

Sustainable agriculture and soil conservation methods are integral to ensuring food safety and mitigating environmental impacts worldwide. However, crop residue/straw serves many vital functions from tillage to harvest, so that quantifying the appropriate amount of Crop Straw Cover (CSC) on the soil surface is crucial for monitoring tillage intensity and crop yield performance. Thus, a novel research study is conducted to develop an innovative approach for accurately estimating and mapping the Wheat Straw Cover (WSC) percentage through two different multispectral satellites (Sentinel-2B MSI and Landsat-8 OLI-TIRS), using remote sensing-based techniques in Changshu County, China. The field measurements were collected from 80 distinct sites and eight images were acquired through both satellites for the analysis process by applying Crop Residue Indices (CRIs). The results indicate that the coefficients of determination (R2) of the Normalized Difference Tillage Index (NDTI) computed by Sentinel-2 and Landsat-8 were 0.80 and 0.70, respectively, and the root-mean-square deviation (RMSD) values were in the range from 6.88 to 12.04% for CRIs for both satellite data. Additionally, the comparative analysis of the developed model revealed that NDTI was R2 = 0.85 and R2 = 0.77, followed by STI, R2 = 0.82 and R2 = 0.80 and NDRI, R2 = 0.69 and R2 = 0.56 for Sentinel-2B and Landsat-8 data, respectively. Hence, the correlation strength of NDTI, STI and NDRI with WSC percentages was markedly superior by using Sentinel-2B spectral data compared to Landsat-8 ones. Moreover, the NDTI of Sentinel-2B data was the most accurate in mapping the WSC percentage in four categories, with an overall accuracy of 86.53% (κ = 0.78), surpassing the other CRI indices. Therefore, these findings suggest that the multispectral imagery of Sentinel-2B bolstered with enhanced temporal and spatial data was superior for precisely estimating and mapping the WSC percentage compared to Landsat-8 data over a large-scale agricultural region.

During the harvesting of cut-stem vegetables, the structural parameters of cutters have an important influence on the harvesting effect. Structural parameters of stalks directly affect the cutting effect of the cutter. The thickness of the stalk xylem has a strong influence on the cutting stability and cutting surface effect of the cutter. In this paper, the effect of the broccoli stalk xylem on conventional toothless cutters was investigated using broccoli stalks as the cutting object. It was found that a thicker xylem leads to shear force fluctuations, which in turn affects the smooth operation of the cutting device. Taking locust mouthparts as the research object, a bionic multi-tooth cutting method is proposed in this paper to obtain the contour curve based on the locust upper jaw cutting tooth lobe. By establishing the regression equation, the contour curve of the cutting teeth is fitted accurately. The cutter edge is designed with the locust’s maxillary incisive lobe as the bionic object. ANSYS software was used to simulate the cutting of a double disc cutter and broccoli stalk. The effect of each factor was analyzed by response-surface regression to determine the optimal cutter speed, machine forward speed, cutting inclination, blade overlap, and optimal cutting position. The cutting test is verified via broccoli stalks and a cutting test bench to further determine the cutting device operating parameters. The optimal operating parameters of the cutting device were 0.239 m/s forward speed, 30.974-degree cutting edge angle, 10.066 mm blade overlap, and 467.511 rpm.

Background: Following the popularization of high-yielding rice in China, fast and efficient mechanized harvesting proved challenging. In addition, the physical characteristics of rice grains and stems are substantially affected during harvest by the field environment and harvest time. However, the combine harvester driver is focused on maximizing the outputs and does not consider the adverse effects of these factors during the rice harvest. Methods: We investigated the effects of the harvest time, spatial position, and temperature on the static friction coefficient of rice grains and stems of high-yielding rice using a field experiment. Results: The result difference in the static friction coefficient between the parallel and perpendicular placements of the rice stem on the steel plate was 9%, indicating that the contact configuration had a significant impact. The region, harvest time, and temperature significantly affected the static friction characteristics of the rice grains and stems. The most significant differences were observed in the X-direction. Conclusions: The optimum harvest time was 10:11 a.m.–3:30 p.m. and the optimum temperature was above 16.5 °C. A quantitative analysis of the effects of the harvest time and temperature on the static friction characteristics of rice provides reliable data for machine design optimization and standardization of harvests operations.

The noise generated by combine harvesters during operation has drawn growing attention, particularly that of the conveying trough shell, whose noise generation mechanism remains unclear. This study investigated the vibration radiation noise characteristics of conveying troughs by analyzing a chain system with 83 links using numerical simulation and experimental validation. A dynamic model of the conveyor chain system was developed, and the time domain reaction force at the bearing support was used as excitation for the trough shell’s finite element model. Modal and harmonic response analyses were performed to obtain the vibration response, which served as an acoustic boundary input for the LMS Virtual Lab. The indirect boundary element method was used to compute the radiated noise, achieving coupled modeling of chain system vibration and trough shell noise. Simulation results revealed that the maximum radiated noise occurred at approximately 112 Hz, closely matching experimental data. Comparative analysis of transmitted noise at 500 Hz and 700 Hz showed acoustic power levels of 98.4 dB and 109.52 dB, respectively. Results indicate that transmitted noise dominates over structural radiation in energy contribution, highlighting it as the primary noise path. This work offers a validated prediction model and supports noise control design for combine harvester conveying troughs.
