Dr. Sandra Gonçalves is an Assistant Professor at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade do Algarve, and member of the Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development (MED/UAlg). She completed her PhD studies in Biology (Biotechnology) at the University of Algarve. She has published more than 80 scientific papers, 16 book chapters by invitation, and many other publications (h-index 26). Her key research topics focus on plant tissue culture, the exploitation of plant biodiversity as a source of bioactive molecules with industrial interest, and the application of biotechnological techniques for plant biomass production and manipulation, and her teaching disciplines mainly include Agronomy (Plant Science) and Plant Biotechnology areas, in advanced training (BSc/MSc/PhD) and outreach activities.
