This article considers the use of the entropy method in the optimization and forecasting of multimodal transport under conditions of risks that can be determined simultaneously by deterministic, stochastic and fuzzy quantities. This will allow to change the route of transportation in real time in an optimal way with an unacceptable increase in the risk at one of its next stages and predict the redistribution of the load of transport nodes. The aim of this study is to develop a mathematical model for the optimal choice of an alternative route, the best for one or more objective functions in real time. In addition, it is proposed to use this mathematical model to estimate the dynamic change in turnover through intermediate transport nodes, forecasting their loading over time under different conditions that also include long-term risks which are significant in magnitude. To substantiate the feasibility of the proposed mathematical model, the analysis and forecast of cargo turnover through the seaports of Ukraine are presented, taking into account and analysing the existing risks.

Global climate changes and fossil fuel reserve depletion are drivers for the search for environmentally friendly renewable energy sources. In Europe, biomass represents the main alternative to fossil fuels. Among energy crops, sorghum is a promising crop for arid regions. The biomass yield and energy efficiency of sorghum (both silage and grain) were studied based on field experiments conducted in Southern Ukraine. The following climate changes were identified: an increase in temperature and a decrease in precipitation. The total energy inputs for sweet sorghum were estimated at 11.256 GJ/ha. The main contributors to the energy inputs are mineral fertilizers (56.99%). The experiment showed that a yield of 40.6 t/ha could be achieved with annual precipitation of 350 mm. The energy efficiency ratio was determined to be 11.18. The total energy inputs for grain sorghum was 16.081 GJ/ha. Its yield (grain) varied from 1.92 to 7.05 t/ha. The energy efficiency ratio of grain sorghum ranged from 2.8 to 16.7.

Considering the insufficient usage of natural resources, ecological crisis, rising population and limitations of the traditional food system in the 21st century, it is extremely important to search for methods to achieve sustainable development. In this context, the search for alternative methods of farming and the transformation of typical food consumption is relevant; the organic market and its features are of particular interest. Based on the above, this article is dedicated to understanding what the development opportunities for the production and export of Ukrainian organic products within the global market are. To achieve this objective, it became necessary to study the specificities of the dynamic growth of the global organic food market, which includes identifying the dominant factors of its development, peculiarities of its regulation, evaluation of the current state, main trends and prospects. The study provides the characteristics of the top competitors in the global market, consumer segmentation and experience of the implementation of global and national organic sector development and support programs. As a result of the study, it was found that Ukraine has unrealized export potential that can be realized using a combination of practices used abroad (the active use of marketing tools, state support for the organic sector and increasing organic production by uniting producers into clusters and creating cooperatives).

Purpose The paper embarks on the development of theory and methodology for managing the sustainable development of machine-building enterprises through the use of quantitative modeling tools. The article proposes an algorithm for estimating the position of an enterprise in its competitive space for sustainable development. Design/methodology/approach The three dimensions of sustainability (social, economic, environmental) are represented by the equations based on the multiple criteria of sustainability. The three-dimensional space is constructed and the effects of managerial decisions can be quantified in terms of the latter space. Findings The proposed model is applied in the case of Ukrainian machinery construction company. The effects of introduction of the environmentally friendly business strategy are assessed in the three-dimensional sustainability space. The changes in the level of sustainability can be estimated based on the projected changes in the criteria of sustainability. Originality/value The proposed methodology combines expert knowledge, empirical data and quantitative methods in order to quantify the level of sustainability of enterprises. The model can be extended to include additional dimensions and applied to different empirical cases.

Adopting a new paradigm for social development implies a transition to a circular economy. The above requires the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the utilization of wastes, and the use of renewable energy sources. The most promising way is the use of methanol for industrial and transport applications. China is experiencing a boom in methanol production and its use in almost every sector of the economy. The purpose of this study was to reveal economic benefits, carbon dioxide emissions and the potential production of green methanol. Fuel price history, energy costs and fuel economy were used for economic assessment. Life cycle analysis to evaluate carbon dioxide emissions was applied. It was revealed that only the use of green methanol as a fuel results in decreases in well-to-wheel CO2 emissions compared to fossil fuels. The potential methanol production by using recycled waste and wind power was determined. Its annual production can range from 6.83 to 32.43 million tones. On this basis, a gradual transition to a circular and methanol economy is possible. Policymakers are recommended to support green methanol production in China. It can result in boosting the application of vehicles fueled by methanol and can control CO2 emissions.

As organic farming gains more popularity across the world, it is important to discuss the underlying trends of its development in Ukraine, who is an important agricultural producer. Organic farming may have lower environmental pressures—therefore, we seek to identify the major trends in the production and sales of the organic agricultural products in Ukraine. In this study, data on the production structure, costs, and selling prices from Ukrainian enterprises are analyzed. Conventional and organic enterprises are contrasted in order to identify the possibilities for the development of organic agriculture in Ukraine. Our results suggest that enterprises that use organic farming in Ukraine tend to produce higher output per hectare, as opposed to those engaged in conventional farming. However, labor profitability remains low in labor-intensive organic farming, especially in larger companies, and organic products remain a low percentage of Ukraine’s agricultural exports. This calls for further study into the development of organic production and consumption in the domestic market, as well as the implementation of appropriate certification practices in order to ensure the growth of organic exports.

The paper presents a framework for the financial analysis of the environmental measures (programmes) for forestry enterprises. The indicators of the economic and social effectiveness of environmental measures are discussed. The prospects for their implementation in the context of sustainable forest management in Ukraine are analysed. The research focuses on the effectiveness of environmental measures at the level of forestry enterprise. The proposed framework allows for determining the economic and social effectiveness of environmental measures at the enterprise level. To this end, the net discounted income is used to measure the profitability of environmental measures. The payback period is determined to provide an intuition behind the decision to participate in the environmental measures. The proposed framework allows for improving decision support for the national sustainable forestry development programmes not only at the macro level, but also at the level of enterprises.

Renewable energy is expected to play a significant role in power generation. The European Union, the USA, China, and others, are striving to limit the use of energy crop for energy production and to increase the use of crop residue both on the field and for energy generation processes. Therefore, crop residue may become a major energy source, with Ukraine following this course. Currently in Ukraine, renewable power generation does not exceed 10% of total electricity production. Despite a highly developed agriculture sector, there are only a small number of biomass power plants which burn crop residues. To identify possibilities for renewable power generation, the quantity of crop residues, their energy potential, and potential electricity generation were appraised. Cluster analysis was used to identify regions with the highest electricity consumption and crop residue energy potential. The major crops (wheat, barley, rapeseed, sunflower, and soybean) were considered in this study. A national production of crop residue for energy production of 48.66 million tons was estimated for 2018. The availability of crop residues was analyzed taking into account the harvest, residue-to-crop ratio, and residue removal rate. The crop residue energy potential of Ukraine has been estimated at 774.46 PJ. Power generation technologies have been analyzed. This study clearly shows that crop residue may generate between 27 and 108 billion kWh of power. We have selected preferable regions for setting up crop residue power plants. The results may be useful for the development of energy policy and helpful for investors in considering power generation projects.

Research has shown that the risks of multimodal transportation depend as both on stochastic and fuzzy parameters. Mathematical vehicles for the stochastic and fuzzy quantities are different. Therefore, a mathematical model is suggested to evaluate for the integral risk of cargo transportation. This makes it possible to use this model in support systems while making decisions on logistics of multimodal transportation. The use of a mathematical model requires careful analysis of all risks attributed to the multimodal transportation chain, possible overload options, and taking into account the entire spectrum of control activities. After determining the most appropriate, from the point of view of risk minimization, the mode of transportation and its first links, the next stage of dynamic risk management is recursive review of the status vector of the chosen variant of the specified transportation route. For this information system it is necessary to process large data sets, while the suggested model economically uses computer resources and reduces the calculation time. The given mathematical model allows real-time changes in the transportation risk at specific stage to offer options for reducing integral risk, leverage it, in particular, choosing other routes and types of transport.

The starting point was the statement that providing conditions for sufficient consumption of milk and dairy products by the population of Ukraine is one of the urgent tasks of food security. The issue of overcoming the crisis of milk production, which has been observed in recent years and is manifested in a steady reduction in the volume and number of livestock remains unresolved, which determined the subject and objectives of the study. The purpose of the article is formulated as the definition of the main trends in the activities of milk production enterprises, the development measures to improve their activities efficiency. Its achievement has necessitated the allocation of structural elements of the agricultural complex. The subsectors of the dairy subcomplex, the core of which is represented by dairy cattle, are considered separately. Trends and rates of change has been researched in milk production, livestock, average annual milk yield per cow, the structure of milk production in terms of households and industrial livestock, indicators of profitability of milk production based on the analysis of statistical data. The special attention is paid to the problems of the goat's milk market given the indicators of efficiency and export attractiveness. As a result of the study, the following conclusions were obtained: the dominance of the household milk product segment is an obstacle to building an appropriate mechanism for controlling the quality of raw milk; increasing production productivity through mechanization and automation; increasing the economic potential of the dairy industry requires active state regulation through the use of tax regulation tools, tariff and non-tariff levers to increase the products competitiveness without further increase in price; a promising area of development of the dairy sub-sector is the association and cooperation of small producers. Household cooperation has the potential to improve the conditions for the economic interests realization of milk producers by increasing the influence of associations and unions in the market, given the significant price asymmetry. Key words: milk production, economic stability, dairy subcomplex, industrial cattle breeding, dairy cattle breeding.

Topicality. Technological innovations of the fourth industrial revolution have had a significant impact on the development of logistics and the organization of logistics and transportation throughout the world. These processes were also facilitated by the globalization of international trade, the transnationalization of large companies, and the growth of volumes of commodities’ production, which involves the unrestricted movement of resources and goods between countries and continents, which can only be realized under the presence of a strong and developed transport and logistics infrastructure. The growing role of transport and logistics services is confirmed by the UNCTAD data, according to which 63 % of the World's volume of investment stock belongs to the services sector, 23.4 % of which - to the transport and logistics services. The geo-strategic position of Ukraine allows it being a convenient place for transit transportation of cargoes and passengers between the countries of Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Four Crete transport corridors pass through Ukraine. The transit transposition of Ukraine is an absolute advantage of the country, which makes national market attractive for foreign investors and producers.World trends show, that recently in the sphere of transport logistics, new cargo delivery technologies and innovative approaches to transport infrastructure have emerged. That is why the relevance of the choice of the paper topic is related to the study of the impact of innovative technologies of the fourth industrial revolution on the development of transport logistics. There is a large number of ambitious projects that will be analyzed in this study. This will allow us formulating suggestions on the implementation of the most promising projects of transport logistics to implement them in Ukraine. They will be aimed at increasing the competitiveness of both logistics enterprises and the country as a whole.Aim and tasks. The purpose of the article is to study the impact of innovative technologies on the development of transport logistics in Ukraine and to formulate suggestions on the implementation of the most promising projects into the transport and logistics infrastructure of Ukraine. Research results. The article reveals the main meta-trends in the development of logistics for the nearest future, namely: 3D printing, IoT, UAV, autonomous transport and underground cargo delivery. The analysis of the logistics market showed, that in Ukraine over the past 10 years the development of logistics has showed a predominantly negative dynamics : almost no water transport (only 1 % of total freight turnover); due to the state of roads and restrictions on the traffic of large-sized transport, only recently road haulage has begun to show a positive dynamics, while rail transport is still the main type of cargo transportation in Ukraine. The project of a logistics infrastructure for underground cargo delivery for the Odessa region and Ukraine as a whole is suggested. Within the framework of this project, a possibility, the potential cost and the profit from the implementation of the underground cargo network in Ukraine have been analyzed. According to the analysis, at the expense of the profit from this project, the payback period will be 7 years, and only one year after the project implementation the profit is expected to increase by 51 %. Conclusion. Ukraine has an extremely favorable geopolitical location; several international transport corridors pass through the country, but at the moment the degree of the use of transport infrastructure in Ukraine is rather low. In recent years, the country has been active in supporting initiatives related to the development of international transport corridors, defining their creation and development as a priority direction in the development of the transport complex of Ukraine. According to the analysis, the attraction of investments for the introduction of modern transportation technologies will lead to a significant increase in the profit from freight transportation and will allow Ukraine to take the leading position in the market of logistics services in Europe.
