The tangible and intangible value derived from the built environment is of great importance. This raises concerns related to the resilience of constructed assets to both human-made and natural disasters. Consideration of these concerns is present in the countless decisions made by various stakeholders during the decades-long life cycle of this type of physical asset. This paper addresses these issues from the standpoint of the engineering aspects that must be managed to enhance the structural safety and serviceability of buildings against natural disasters. It presents risk-informed performance-based parameterization strategies and evaluation criteria as well as design methods to embed differentiated levels of structural safety and serviceability of buildings against wind, snow, earthquakes and other natural agents. The proposed approach enables designers to assure the resilience and reliability of building structures against natural risks.

This research focuses on proposing a framework based on an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) for the selection/evaluation of managers in the field of asset management. A hierarchical structure is constructed, encompassing the set of competences under the role of risk management and performance improvement of the Institute of Asset Management’s (IAM’s) competences framework. It also describes the AHP implementation and illustrates the entire process with an example that uses IAM competences as model criteria. A sensitivity analysis is also carried out to confirm the robustness of the proposed methodology. As per the findings, the AHP was proven to be a usable and reliable method in selecting the most appropriate asset manager. Therefore, it can help organizations to plan and develop the competences they need to meet current and future needs. This study is among the few studies that focus on competence requirements for people working in asset management. As such, a novel approach for selecting managers in the field of asset management is proposed by this study.

A rapidly changing business environment, strong competition, the requirement to minimize losses are some of the conditions under which organizations operate today. This has led to organizations constantly looking for new ways to improve their performance and gain a competitive advantage. Over the last two decades, the demand for effective physical asset management (PAM) has steadily increased. As a result, organizations’ commitment to physical asset management (PAM) has recently received considerable attention in both theory and practice. As a result, PAM has become an important field, especially in the assetintensive industry. In fact, PAM is also considered a key player within Industry 4.0. Assets in the sense of the ISO 55000 standard for asset management are items, things and entities that have value or potential value to the organization. Physical assets, also known as engineering assets, are important in creating tangible value for an organization in a variety of industrial settings such as manufacturing, power supply, water supply, construction, mining, transportation services, and various other sectors. The main purpose of the presentation is to highlight the topic PAM, introduce the key artefacts of ISO 55001, and outline the potential benefits to organizations. In addition, this presentation can be used as a guide to create a framework to maximizing the value realized from assets while balancing financial, environmental and social costs, risks, service quality and performance.

The COVID-19 epidemic caused by the SARS-Co-V2 virus has dramatically affected the daily life of society as a whole and almost without exception the functioning of various institutions. The first and hardest have been institutions falling under the health care sector. Over the past several decades, the functioning of health care institutions has retained a more or less type of fragile balance that has been further shaken by the COVID-19 epidemic. This has served to inadevertently reveal some shortcomings in the health care sector. In this article, we outline the reorganization and adaptation of the primary health care sector as seen in the example of the Community Health Centre Kranj. Particulary highlighted are challenges faced within the health care institution as well as examples of good practice that should be maintained in the event of any future infectious disease epidemic outbreaks.

The commitment of organisations to physical assets management (PAM) has recently received considerable attention in theory and practice. Indeed, PAM plays a key role in asset-intensive organizations and is also considered as a principal actor within Industry 4.0. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the PAM core practices and the performance implications of integrating these practices into business, in particular by assessing their impact on operational performance. Survey data were collected from managers in 138 international and local organisations. The data was analysed using Partial Least Squares Path Modeling (PLS-PM). The study validates the second-order construct consisting of PAM latent variables, namely Strategy and Planning, Risk management, Lifecycle Delivery, Asset Information, and Asset Review. The results have shown that PAM core practices directly influence operational performance. This paper is a response to recent calls for empirical studies on the organisational approaches that can increase the success of organisations.

The world economy and society are in a complex process of transition characterized by a high degree of uncertainty. Therefore, further development and management of the transition will largely depend on the quality of the decisions made and, accordingly, on the decision-making process itself. The main goal of this study is to analyze the reliability of International Energy Security Risk Index as a tool to support the process of energy and economy transition decision making, as closely related and highly interdependent phenomena. The index is composed of 29 aggregated variables (grouped into eight categories), and the research is conducted on a research sample of 25 countries over a period of 36 years. The reliability assessment is performed by using Multiple Regression Analysis. Multicollinearity test, plus Multicollinearity test with Variance Inflation Factors, is used for methodological verification. The test results indicate a high degree of unreliability of the Index, as is concluded based on the observed errors in its methodological settings. These errors primarily relate to a high degree of multicollinearity in all 29 variables, whereby independent variables lose their independence and thus jeopardize reliability of the total Index. Out of the eight groups of variables, the fuel imports group is the only one that does not show big methodological errors. The paper presents a recommendation for the improvement of the observed Index (review of the role of individual variables found to be particularly methodologically indicative), as well as a recommendation for different distribution of weighting coefficients.

Uvod: Zaposleni v zdravstveni negi so izpostavljeni številnim dejavnikom stresa. Podatki so analizirani z opisnimi metodami in faktorsko analizo.

38th International Conference on Organizational Science Development: Ecosystem of Organizations in the Digital Age The technology is the key enabler of the development. It stimulates different areas of organizations and changes the established business in terms of digital. The ecosystem of organizations interwines with the basic cell of society through various layers of individuals, society, national and global layers. It provides a basis for survival and sustainability. The life of employees, organizations and the society in general is changing positively due to cultural, social and economic changes, influenced with digital technology. Integrating organizations into ecosystems is the way to complex connections that create opportunities for long-term integration and the power of organizations. Organizational sciences introduce new principles for sustainable development and connection of human and technology by focusing on innovative actions supporting diverse organizations and establishing ecosystems as business models. The 38th International Conference on Organizational Science Development in 2019 brings a new impetus to the perception of an individual as an essential member of organizations as well as the technology that promotes the development of various aspects of digital transformation. Digital-supported employees, digitally-enabled work and digital technology support create new trends in organizations, while returning to the essence of their operation – the ecosystem as a paradigm of networking and linking individuals and organizations. 38. mednarodna konferenca o razvoju organizacijskih znanosti: Ekosistem organizacij v dobi digitalizacije Tehnologija razvija in spodbuja različna področja delovanja organizacij ter spreminja ustaljene okvire poslovnega sveta v smislu digitalnega. Z usmerjenostjo v inoviranje delovanja s podporo različnih organizacij in ustvarjanjem ekosistemov kot poslovnih modelov, organizacijske vede vnašajo nove principe delovanja v smeri trajnostnega razvoja in neposredne povezljivosti tehnologije s človekom.
