Professor Claudio Goletti has been an Associate Professor at the Physics Department of the University of Rome Tor Vergata since 2005. He completed his Laurea Degree in Physics in 1987 at the University of Rome La Sapienza, under the supervision of professor Gianfranco Chiarotti. He has recently taken on the role of PI of the Tor Vergata research unit for the Project PNRR/INAF "STILES (Strengthening the Italian leadership in ELT and SKA)", to investigate by photoemission and optical techniques the possible evolution of prebiotic forms on minerals of the early Earth. He has published more than 110 papers in international journals, concerning his main scientific interests: i) the investigation of clean surfaces in an Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) by Reflectance Anisotropy Spectroscopy (RAS) and Surface Differential Reflectance (SDR), and (recently) in liquid by RAS and electrochemical STM; ii) the optical properties of thin and ultrathin organic films in a UHV and in a controlled atmosphere by RAS and SDR; iii) the application of RAS to real-time monitoring of organic growth by Organic Molecular Beam Epitaxy (OMBE); iv) the gas/surface interaction in films of porphyrins for gas-sensing (by RAS); and vi) the monitoring of growth of GaAsBi alloys by RAS.
