I have a Master's in soil and water sciences from 1994 and a PhD in Biogeochemistry from 1999. I graduated from Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU). At NMBU, I have been appointed as Post Doc, research scientist, research professor (since 2014) and project leader in several projects related to either soil contaminants (I) or plant nutrition (II). I conduct research on the biogeochemistry of metal in soil, sediments and fresh water; the metal speciation in soil solution and its impact on both soil microbial biology and plants. (II) I am also involved in more agricultural related projects in Norway, Europe and elsewhere in the world (North Sea region, Asia and Africa). Recently, much of my focus has been directed to biogeochemical studies resulting from salt inundations of cultivated and non-cultivated soils in the coastal areas in the North Sea regions. In addition to that, I am in research and training projects in East Africa investigating climate change-related impacts on the management of agricultural systems.
