In today’s digitalized era, the world wide web services are a vital aspect of each individual’s daily life and are accessible to the users via uniform resource locators (URLs). Cybercriminals constantly adapt to new security technologies and use URLs to exploit vulnerabilities for illicit benefits such as stealing users’ personal and sensitive data, which can lead to financial loss, discredit, ransomware, or the spread of malicious infections and catastrophic cyber-attacks such as phishing attacks. Phishing attacks are being recognized as the leading source of data breaches and the most prevalent deceitful scam of cyber-attacks. Artificial intelligence (AI)-based techniques such as machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) have proven to be infallible in detecting phishing attacks. Nevertheless, sequential ML can be time intensive and not highly efficient in real-time detection. It can also be incapable of handling vast amounts of data. However, utilizing parallel computing techniques in ML can help build precise, robust, and effective models for detecting phishing attacks with less computation time. Therefore, in this proposed study, we utilized various multiprocessing and multithreading techniques in Python to train ML and DL models. The dataset used comprised 54 K records for training and 12 K for testing. Five experiments were carried out, the first one based on sequential execution followed by the next four based on parallel execution techniques (threading using Python parallel backend, threading using Python parallel backend and number of jobs, threading manually, and multiprocessing using Python parallel backend). Four models, namely, random forest (RF), naïve bayes (NB), convolutional neural network (CNN), and long short-term memory (LSTM) were deployed to carry out the experiments. Overall, the experiments yielded excellent results and speedup. Lastly, to consolidate, a comprehensive comparative analysis was performed.

Quantum steganography plays a critical role in embedding confidential data into carrier messages using quantum computing schemes. The quantum variant of steganography outperforms its classical counterpart from security, embedding efficiency and capacity, imperceptibility, and time-complexity perspectives. Considerable work has been carried out in the literature focusing on quantum steganography. However, a holistic view of available schemes is missing. This paper provides an overview of latest advances in the field of quantum-steganography and image-steganography schemes. Moreover, the paper includes discussion of improvements made in the aforementioned fields, a brief explanation of the methodologies used for each presented algorithm, and a comparative study of existing schemes.

This paper discusses active directory that is used across many organizations to centralize control of users' logins to organization resources and network. A Saudi company that does not implement active directory which enables centralized, secure management of an entire network is analyzed in this paper. Active directory servers have some vulnerabilities that affect the security of active directory. There are many guidelines recommended to address security issues. Active directory has built-in support of security controls, and there are many possible ways to enhance the security of active directory and the network. Not implementing active directory in large organizations lead to the loss of control over user's resources and information which might result in serious security threats.

The use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or drones has increased lately. This phenomenon is due to UAVs’ wide range of applications in fields such as agriculture, delivery, security and surveillance, and construction. In this context, the security and the continuity of UAV operations becomes a crucial issue. Spoofing, jamming, hijacking, and Denial of Service (DoS) attacks are just a few categories of attacks that threaten drones. The present paper is focused on the security of UAVs against DoS attacks. It illustrates the pros and cons of existing methods and resulting challenges. From here, we develop a novel method to detect DoS attacks in UAV environments. DoS attacks themselves have many sub-categories and can be executed using many techniques. Consequently, there is a need for robust protection and mitigation systems to shield UAVs from DoS attacks. One promising security solution is intrusion detection systems (IDSs). IDs paired with machine learning (ML) techniques provide the ability to greatly reduce the risk, as attacks can be detected before they happen. ML plays an important part in improving the performance of IDSs. The many existing ML models that detect DoS attacks on UAVs each carry their own strengths and limitations.

Key exchange mechanisms are foundational to secure communication, yet traditional methods face challenges from quantum computing. The Module-Lattice-Based Key-Encapsulation Mechanism (ML-KEM) is a post-quantum cryptographic key exchange protocol with unknown successful quantum vulnerabilities. This study evaluates the ML-KEM using experimental benchmarks. We implement the ML-KEM in Python for clarity and in C++ for performance, demonstrating the latter’s substantial performance improvements. The C++ implementation achieves microsecond-level execution times for key generation, encapsulation, and decapsulation. Python, while slower, provides a user-friendly introduction to the ML-KEM’s operation. Moreover, our Python benchmark confirmed that the ML-KEM consistently outperformed RSA in execution speed across all tested parameters. Beyond benchmarking, the ML-KEM is shown to handle the computational hardness of the Module Learning With Errors (MLWE) problem, ensuring resilience against quantum attacks, classical attacks, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based attacks, since the ML-KEM has no pattern that could be detected. To evaluate its practical feasibility on constrained devices, we also tested the C++ implementation on a Raspberry Pi 4B, representing IoT use cases. Additionally, we attempted to run integration and benchmark tests for the ML-KEM on microcontrollers such as the ESP32 DevKit, ESP32 Super Mini, ESP8266, and Raspberry Pi Pico, but these trials were unsuccessful due to memory constraints. The results showed that while the ML-KEM can operate effectively in such environments, only devices with sufficient resources and runtimes can support its computational demands. While resource-intensive, the ML-KEM offers scalable security across diverse domains such as IoT, cloud environments, and financial systems, making it a key solution for future cryptographic standards.

This paper studies the effect of quantum computers on Bitcoin mining. The shift in computational paradigm towards quantum computation allows the entire search space of the golden nonce to be queried at once by exploiting quantum superpositions and entanglement. Using Grover’s algorithm, a solution can be extracted in time O(2256/t), where t is the target value for the nonce. This is better using a square root over the classical search algorithm that requires O(2256/t) tries. If sufficiently large quantum computers are available for the public, mining activity in the classical sense becomes obsolete, as quantum computers always win. Without considering quantum noise, the size of the quantum computer needs to be ≈104 qubits.
