Federico Vagnon is a research fellow at the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Turin (Italy) since 2017. In 2011 he got a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic of Turin with a thesis entitled: "The Turin passing railway: means and methods used”. In 2013 he received his Master degree at the same University with a thesis entitled: "Mechanical excavation in rock: theoretical, numerical and in laboratory analysis of the parameters that influence disc cutter action in a TBM". In January 2014 he won a Ph.D grant at the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Turin and in February 2017 he defended his PhD dissertation on the "Theoretical and experimental study for the barrier optimisation against debris flow risk". He is author of about 20 scientific papers on different topics related to rock mechanics, engineering geology, landslides and geophysics.
