Information

My research interests include satellite remote sensing of the Earth and its applications to study the global water cycle and climate. I am particularly focused on the use of multi-satellite observations to understand continental hydrology and its interactions with the ocean, climate variability, and global changes, particularly in tropical regions. I am a member of science teams and projects studying the inter-tropical zone with a special emphasis on the Indian Subcontinent and South American regions. I am a member of the Science Team (ST, 2016–2023) of the NASA-CNES satellite Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT), and I co-lead the SWOT Working Group on River Science. I co-lead the group SWOT for South America, and I am part of organization committee of the conference series South America Water for Space. After receiving my PhD from the University of Toulouse, France, in 2003, I was employed at the NASA-GISS laboratory at Columbia University, NY, USA until 2010, when I joined the IRD. From 2012 to 2017, I was on deputation at the IRD-IISc Joint International Laboratory in Bangalore, India. I am currently on IRD deputation at the University of Brasilia in Brazil.
