William pursued a master’s degree at the Sao Paulo State University, Brazil, studying hydrophobic Sonogels. From 2012 to 2016, William concluded his Ph.D. in Physics at Technological Institute of Aeronautics, in the most prestigious military institution in Brazil, with studies on atomic layer deposition (ALD) with titanium dioxide thin films, being the first thesis in the ALD field in Latin America. Due to the Brazilian Government's budget cuts, he stopped his career between March of 2016 and March of 2017, a low scientific productivity period. In 2017, he re-started his career at the University of São Paulo (USP) with a Postdoctoral Fellowship received as an independent grant through competitive funding (success rate 5%), where William was the principal investigator (PI). As part of the project, he performed a short research stay at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) at the Nanofabrication for Optoelectronic Applications group, under the project “Passivation of Semiconductor interfaces for CIGS solar cells.” Between 2019 and 2020, he performed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Aveiro, Department of Physics, Portugal. In 2020, he started a third postdoctoral fellowship in plasma physics at the Technological Institute of Aeronautics, Brazil, studying plasma applied on liquids as an interdisciplinary approach to odontology.
