Iwona Zarzyka received a Master Degree in Chemical Technology at Rzeszow University of Technology (Poland) in 1998 and then worked at Rzeszow University of Technology in the Department of Organic Chemistry. She obtained her PhD in Chemical Science at the Rzeszow University of Technology in 2003 in the study of monomer and polymer syntheses and their properties.
In 2015, she became an associate professor and received a higher academic position at the University of Technology in Rzeszow. Zarzyka’s research interests include composites and nanocomposites based on poly(3-hydroxybutyrate), modification of thermal properties and processing possibilities, as well as mechanical properties. Furthermore, her research interests are focused on the synthesis of imidazoquinazoline derivatives and their sulfur analogues, and the study of the structure of small molecule compounds using instrumental methods, including the study of the crystallographic structure as well as molecular modeling. She also deals with the synthesis, structure modification and thermal properties of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide), its copolymers, and their hydrogels.
She is the coordinator of a scientific project funded by the local government and a member of teams involved in scientific projects funded by the national government. She has authored more than 70 publications on international ISI journals with an H index of 10 (WoS), and has 10 patents. She is a reviewer for many international scientific journals.
