Nowadays, renewable energy sources such as solar Photovoltaic (PV) and wind power systems play a significant part in the process of generating electricity. These systems are tremendously reliant on the present and forecasted weather conditions. The inconsistent behavior of the system has an impact on the production as well as the variances in the output. As a result, the requirement for energy transmission and distribution systems to compensate promptly is becoming crucial. This paper proposes a new smart grid application for power system operation. A Static Compensator (STATCOM) device is utilized to improve the power quality and power flow in the distribution system, reduce unwanted harmonics and compensate for reactive power in the power sources. A quasi-Z-Source Inverter (qZSI) based STATCOM is constructed in connection with a Three-Phase Four-Wire (3P4W) distribution system. The combination of a q Z-source and a Photovoltaic (PV) system makes up the suggested compensator circuit that is employed here for switching. To control the suggested compensator, an Adaptive Frequency Fixed (AFF) - Second Order Generalized Integrator (SOGI) has been implemented. The Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) is used to optimize the parameters of the Proportional Integral (PI) controller, such as Kp and Ki. The performance is evaluated using a variety of characteristics, including power, current, and voltage, generated reactive power and active power, analysis in non-linear load, and other similar metrics.

In this article, a Quasi Z-source inverter (QZSI)-based unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) backed by the solar photovoltaic (SPV) is presented in order to enhance power quality. The UPQC consists of converters connected in parallel and series. The active power filters (APFs) connected in parallel and series is one of the versatile custom power circuitries to reduce current and voltage instabilities. The main functions of QZSI can increase the variable direct current (DC) voltage to any given alternating current (AC) output voltage, reduce the necessary elements, and alleviate harmonic content. The UPQC’s compensation function primarily relies on the control system used for the generation of reference current and voltage. The enhanced second order generalized integrator (ESOGI) is used in this proposed system to extract the reference current of QZSI-UPQC. The proposed UPQC uses the SPV system, which has an energy storage unit to offset long-term current and voltage disruptions and fulfill the active power demands of the grid. The experimental results confirm that the proposed SPV-supported QZSI-UPQC generates sinusoidal grid currents of about 1.2% of total harmonic distortion (THD), thus increasing the power efficiency of the interconnected SPV power distribution network.

—This article proposes an extended reference signal generation scheme for the integration of a three-phase four-wire unified power quality conditioner in a grid-connected photovoltaic system. The photovoltaic–unified power quality conditioner provides compensation against voltage harmonics, current harmonics, and voltage interruption for the whole day. It also transmits the power generated in the photovoltaic system to the load. The proposed topology utilizes the green energy source with an energy storage unit to address the DC-link voltage requirement of the shunt and series active power filters of the unified power quality conditioner. The high-selectivity filter is used in the shunt inverter control scheme for reference current generations. The series inverter in the unified power quality conditioner is used for supplying a part of reactive power required by the load and for compensation of sag/swell, supply voltage unbalance, and distortions. This is achieved by controlling the phase angle and magnitude of series-injected voltage called the power angle control method. The simulation and experimental studies are carried out to validate the effectiveness of the proposed photovoltaic-based three-phase four-wire unified power quality conditioner.

Using the Z-network idea and conventional isolated power converters as its foundation, this article introduces a multi-port converter. This article proposes a topology that is called Multi-Port Z-Network Converter (MPZNC). A grid-connected inverter can include N input sources into a single DC bus using the suggested topology. Bypassing the input and output circuits was another capability it possessed with the boost function. Compared to traditional converters, these one-use fewer parts to integrate various energy sources. Consequently, it has better circuit properties and achieves higher conversion efficiencies. In comparison to the standard Z-Source Converter (ZSC), it improves the input-output voltage transformation ratio and provides a wider voltage control range. The circuit design, operating principle, control mechanism, and simulation data have been presented to prove technically possible. To investigate the suggested MPZNC-fed Single Phase Five Level (SPFL) inverter in the given scenario, a 1.5 kW, 230 V, 50 Hz miniature laboratory study model was created. According to the findings, the suggested converter has an efficiency of around 93% and provides double the amount of boosting time as the standard ZSC converter.

—This article proposes a photovoltaic and battery interfaced series hybrid active power filter, which is comprised of a series active power filter and an inductor-capacitor (LC) shunt passive filter. The main benefits of the proposed system provide the compensation against the voltage harmonics, current harmonics, and voltage interruption for the whole day. A series active power filter demands a source of energy for compensating the voltage sag/swell. The proposed topology utilizes the green energy source with an energy storage unit to meet the DC-link voltage requirement of the series active power filter. The control strategy is based on the dual formulation of the compensation system principles with adaptive fuzzy logic controller. The simulation and experimental studies are carried out to validate the effectiveness of the proposed photovoltaic interfaced three-phase four-wire series hybrid active power filter.

The permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) has a more efficiency, high torque density, and high power density, but it suffers from torque ripple. This article describes the electromagnetic (EM) behavior of M19 29Ga material assists PMSM for 310 V, 5 A, and 1500 r/min. In addition, various materials as Losil 34050, Arnon 5, 50M290, M19 USS Transformer 72–29 gauge, and TR80 USS Transformer 80–29 gauge incorporated PMSM and which material has superiority, and with the superiority kept constant, changed the various magnet materials. The EEC 26-T350, MQP-14–12 835995, N45M, Recoma 22, Samarium Cobalt 20/30, Vacodym 890TP, and Vacomax 240 incorporated PMSM also investigated for EM finite-element analysis. The results of this study of the variable as torque ripple forecast the highest torque ( $T_{\mathrm {max}})$ , lowest power output ( $T_{\mathrm {min}})$ , and overall torque ( $T_{\mathrm {avg}})$ . The superior motor among various materials unified PMSM by its ripple and field characteristics. The outcomings of the modeled motor are validated with numerical equations.
