Based on the logistics performance index proposed by the World Bank, this study uses the entropy method to construct the green logistics performance index and empirically analyzes the impact of the green logistics performance of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) countries on China’s export trade using the expanded trade gravity model. The results show that the green logistics performance of RCEP countries can significantly promote China’s export trade to RCEP countries, and various measures to improve green logistics performance have different impacts on China’s export trade. The order of influence degree is the efficiency of a customs clearance procedure, the convenience of arranging freight with a competitive price, the timeliness of cargo transportation, the ability and quality of logistics service, and the intensity of CO2 and N2O emission. To promote China’s export trade, we should give full play to the functions of the customs of various countries and improve the efficiency of regulatory procedures. The regression results reveal that GLPI has a significant and positive impact on export trade RCEP countries, as indicated by the coefficient value of 2.887 at a 1% level of significance. The component factors of GLPI also positively and significantly influence the export trade, but carbon emissions and nitrogen emissions proved to be negative. This study establish with RCEP countries, promote the layout of logistics transport routes among RCEP members, and enhance the popularity of green logistics services; Give full play to the positive role of regional economic organizations and mechanisms, and promote green logistics cooperation between RCEP member countries with high and low GLPI; Through logistics planning, logistics policy and advanced low-carbon logistics technology, promote sustainable development of green logistics.

In general, all types and sizes of organizations are responsible for the degradation of the environment. However, manufacturing companies are considered one of the most significant sources of environmental pollution and are pressured to adopt practices to mitigate environmental degradation. Therefore, this research explores the direct and indirect effects of green human resource management (GHRM) on the Chinese manufacturing firm’s environmental performance. To this end, we share a closed-ended questionnaire via a web-based survey to collect data from 306 employees. Data analysis was performed using partial least square structural equation modeling techniques (i.e., PLS algorithm, bootstrapping, and blindfolding). Our research finds a positive and significant effect of GHRM on employee and firm environmental performance. In addition, this research evidenced a partial mediation of employee environmental performance. Moreover, our study evidenced that the effect of GHRM on employee environmental performance will be more substantial when there is more involvement of employees’ environmental orientation. This study suggests that manufacturing companies must incorporate GHRM practices, promote green behaviors, respect individual environmental values, and encourage employees to implement those practices for the betterment of firms and the natural environment.
This study attempts to investigate the mediating role of institutional quality on the relationship between public debt and economic growth in Pakistan spanning 1996–2020. Time series data on all six World Bank World Governance indicators of institutional quality is used in the empirical analysis. Findings of the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) bounds testing technique and error correction method (ECM) confirmed the existence of cointegration among variables of interest. The short-run results indicate that public debt has a favorable association with economic growth, while the relationship is found to be detrimental in the long run. Furthermore, the combined effect of public debt and institutional quality indicators revealed the significant positive association with economic growth, suggesting that better institutional quality can contribute to mitigate the negative impact of public debt on economic growth in Pakistan.

Purpose: Corporate boards monitor managerial decisions as concluded by the monitoring hypothesis. In this scenario, the present study stresses that leverage decisions can be used as a tool to control insolvency risk.Design/methodology/approach: This study aims at investigating the intervention of capital structure and debt maturity on the relationship between corporate board composition and insolvency risk by employing Preacher and Hayes’s (2008) approach. The study sample comprises 284 firms from 2013 to 2017. Structural equation modeling is used to study the direct and indirect relationships among study variables.Findings: Results show that debt maturity is a significant mediator between CEO duality and insolvency risk and between board size and insolvency risk relationships. However, the capital structure did not mediate any of the proposed links.Research limitations/implications: This study suggests using more long-term debt to tackle insolvency risk in listed non-financial firms of Pakistan. It is also inferred that decisions regarding debt maturity are more crucial than capital structure decisions because insolvency risk is concerned.Originality/value: This study evaluates the comparative mediating role of the debt maturity and the capital structure. Such role is uncommon in the literature addressing the relationship between governance variables and insolvency risk.
