Information

Agnese Giacomino is an Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Department of Drug Science and Technology of the University of Torino. She graduated in Chemistry in 2003 at the University of Torino. She received her PhD in Chemical Science at the University of Torino in February 2007. Her research activities are mainly focused on the following topics: the study of the behavior of metals in different natural matrices (soils, sediments, plants, seawater), foods and pharmaceuticals using spectroscopic and voltametric techniques; the use of chemometric pattern recognition techniques for data processing; the development of new remediation procedures for contaminated soils; the study of the interaction between trace metals and clays and between trace metals and plants; the characterization of food matrices based on their inorganic and redox profiles and to guarantee consumer health and the authenticity and quality of the products; the development of new analytical methods for the characterization of new materials; and the development of procedures for the on-site determination and speciation of trace metals and organic pollutants.
