Andrea Georgiou is a post-doctoral research fellow at the department of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the University of Ioannina, Greece. She holds a PhD in Medical Genetics, from the Cyprus School of Molecular Medicine. Her research interests include genetic epidemiology research on neurodegenerative diseases and inflammatory diseases such as gene-environment interactions and Mendelian randomization studies. Also, she is particularly interested in epigenetic mitochondrial biomarkers for the early diagnosis of complex diseases and studies on the evolutionary history of modern human populations (phylogenetic studies).
