Information

Andres Castellanos-Gomez obtained his PhD (Cum Laude and Extraordinary Award, March 2011) in the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. The thesis work was devoted to the study of the electrical and mechanical properties of two-dimensional materials by means of local probe microscopies. During his postdoctoral stay (May 2011–Apr 2015) at the Kavli Institute of Nanoscience at the Technological University of Delft (Netherlands), he worked on the study of the optoelectronic and electromechanical properties of nanodevices based on 2D materials. In Delft, Andres had the opportunity to supervise several PhDs, masters and bachelor students. In April 2015, Dr. Castellanos-Gomez joined IMDEA Nanoscience as a tenure track researcher to establish the 2D Materials & Devices group. In March 2017 he left IMDEA Nanoscience to join the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid (ICMM-CSIC) as a tenured scientist, where he continues with his research in 2D-based optoelectronic and straintronic devices.
