Claudia Lerma, PhD, is a Mexican scientific researcher with a bachelor’s in computer systems engineering (Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua) and a doctoral degree in biomedical sciences (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, UNAM). She was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at McGill University under the supervision of Dr. Leon Glass. Currently, Dr. Lerma is a Medical Sciences Researcher at the Instituto Nacional de Cardiología Ignacio Chávez in Mexico City and a professor at UNAM and Universidad Anáhuac México, where she teaches research methodology, biostatistics, and cardiovascular signal analysis. She was appointed National Researcher Level 3 by the National System of Researchers (Sistema Nacional de Investigadores, SNI) in Mexico. Her research interests include the nonlinear analysis of cardiovascular signals, sudden cardiac death prediction based on ventricular arrhythmia analysis, and the psychopathology and malnutrition of renal disease patients. Dr. Lerma has published over 90 scientific papers and eight book chapters, mentored more than 20 graduate students (Master’s or Doctoral degrees) in several Mexican universities, is a regular member of several academic societies (Mexican Sciences Academy, Physics Mexican Society, and Mexican Cardiology Society), and has contributed to numerous national and international scientific conferences.
