Ibrahim Deiab is Professor and Director at the School of Engineering, University of Guelph. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from McMaster University in 2003. He joined the Mechanical Engineering faculty at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) in the United Arab Emirates in 2004, where he served as the Director of the Office of Research and the department head of the Mechanical Engineering faculty. He joined the University of Guelph in 2014 where he is currently a Professor in the School of Engineering. His research is focused on the machinability of difficult-to-cut materials, sustainable coolant strategies, the modeling of machining processes, topology optimization, industry 4.0, the additive manufacturing of metals and polymers, the applications of AI in machine and process condition monitoring, and sensor and data fusions, in addition to an interest in engineering education and quality assurance.
