RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research interest in quantitative biology focuses on soft matter, biotechnology processes and bio-polymers towards improving bio-medicine and environment. My researcher career started 11 years ago by studying motility of microorganisms. Arriving at Tec the research was focused on biopolymer production using microalgae from food wastes which continues. My latest project is focused in identifying emerging contaminants in waste-water to facilitate sustainability and carbon capture biotechnology. Along this 11 years with a good multidisciplinary effort and teamwork, I have had the opportunity to participate in several topics. Now I have grown as a researcher with 13 publications and a escalating profile with 265 citations, 7 h-index and 6 i10-index according to Google Scholar global citation.
During this time, I have worked with partners at KCL and UoB at UK; DCU at Ireland; ASU and UMD at US; UAB and CSIC, at Spain.
CURRENT PROJECTS
1. COVID 19 detection and monitoring by Wastewater Based Epidemiology.
2. PHAs production using coffee waste residues and its industrial and medical applications.
3. Compostable batteries to achieve sustainability in segregated regions of south Mexico.
4. CO2 biocapture by microalgae
