Prof. Dr. Ziyad S. Haidar

Ziyad S. Haidar is a Full Professor of Biomaterials, Nanotechnology, and Tissue Engineering, and the Scientific Director at the Facultad de Odontología, Universidad de los Andes (UAndes), Santiago, Chile. He founded and heads the BioMAT'X I+D+i Chile - HAiDAR R&D&I Chile Laboratory/Research Group and is the Head of Innovation at the Centro de Investigación e Innovación Biomédica (CiiB). Prof. Dr. Haidar is a faculty member in the Dental Sciences and BioMedicine doctoral programs at UAndes and a visiting professor at institutions, such as Universidad de La Frontera, Chile and Polytechnique Montréal, Canada. An Oral and Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgeon with a Ph.D. in NanoBioMaterials, Pharmaceuticals, and BioEngineering from McGill University, Canada, Prof. Dr. Haidar completed post-doctoral training at the Montréal Shriners Hospital. Before Chile, he was an Associate Professor of Bioceramics and Chair of Excellence in BioEngineering at the Université de Limoges, France, and Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry (cross-appointment with Dept. of BioEngineering) at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT, USA. He also served as an Adjunct Professor of Head and Neck Surgery at the Inha University Hospital, South Korea, and the Scientific Director of the Utah-Inha Joint Research Complex. Prof. Dr. Haidar is an international speaker with over 200 publications, conference proceedings, textbooks, and patents and serves on the editorial boards of several scientific journals.
