Dr. Haris Hasan Khan is an Associate Professor in the Interdisciplinary Department of Remote Sensing and GIS Applications at Aligarh Muslim University, India. His research focuses on water resource studies, particularly groundwater-surface water interactions, watershed hydrology, and flood inundation mapping using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data. He is currently studying groundwater-river interactions in the alluvial tributaries of the Gangetic River system, employing hydraulic observations, natural tracers, and remote sensing-based hydrological modeling. He also investigates the impact of climate change and human activities on watershed hydrology, using advanced modeling tools such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWAT, and Modflow. His work in flood inundation mapping integrates SAR imagery with hydrodynamic models to enhance flood forecasting. His research in this domain is supported by a grant from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Dr. Khan has a broader academic interest in Earth sciences, applying remote sensing and GIS techniques to water resources. He teaches geosciences, geomorphology, remote sensing, hydrogeology, and hydrology. As a guest editor for Geosciences Journal, he aims to advance research in remote sensing and geospatial analysis for sustainable water management.
