Jaime Cabanilla is a veterinarian with an MSc in Animal Production and a PhD in Agricultural Sciences, specializing in ruminant nutrition. He is affiliated with the Universidad Agraria del Ecuador, where he conducts teaching and research in animal production. His research focuses on ruminant nutrition in pasture-based systems, with emphasis on rumen metabolism, nitrogen utilization, nitrogen efficiency, and nutrient partitioning. His work addresses feeding strategies to enhance rumen microbial efficiency, optimize nutrient use, and mitigate nitrogen losses under grazing conditions, contributing to improved animal performance and the development of sustainable livestock systems.
