The next generation’s sensor nodes will be more intelligent, energy conservative, and perpetual lifetime in the set-up of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). These sensors nodes are facing the overwhelming challenge of energy consumption which gradually decreases the lifetime of overall network. The wireless power transfer (WPT) is one of the most emerging technologies of energy harvesting that deploys at the heart of sensor nodes for efficient lifetime solution. A wireless portable charging device (WPCD) is drifting inside the WSN to recharge all the nodes which are questing for the eternal life. In this paper, we aspire to optimize a multi-objective function for charging trail of WPCD, and self-learning algorithm for data routing jointly. We formulated that the objective functions can optimize the fair energy consumption as well as maximize the routing efficiency of WPCD. The fundamental challenge of the problem is, to integrate the novel path for WPCD by applying the Nodal A* algorithm. We proposed a novel method of sensor node’s training for intellectual data transmission by using of clustering and reinforcement learning (SARSA) defined as clustering SARSA (C-SARSA) along with an optimal solution of objective functions. The whole mechanism outperforms in terms of trade-off between energy consumption and stability (fair energy consumption among all nodes) of the WSN; moreover, it prolongs the lifetime of the WSN. The simulated results demonstrate that our proposed method did better than compared literature in terms of energy consumption, stability, and lifetime of the WSN.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs), built from many battery-operated sensor nodes are distributed in the environment for monitoring and data acquisition. Subsequent to the deployment of sensor nodes, the most challenging and daunting task is to enhance the energy resources for the lifetime performance of the entire WSN. In this study, we have attempted an approach based on the shortest path algorithm and grid clustering to save and renew power in a way that minimizes energy consumption and prolongs the overall network lifetime of WSNs. Initially, a wireless portable charging device (WPCD) is assumed which periodically travels on our proposed routing path among the nodes of the WSN to decrease their charge cycle time and recharge them with the help of wireless power transfer (WPT). Further, a scheduling scheme is proposed which creates clusters of WSNs. These clusters elect a cluster head among them based on the residual energy, buffer size, and distance of the head from each node of the cluster. The cluster head performs all data routing duties for all its member nodes to conserve the energy supposed to be consumed by member nodes. Furthermore, we compare our technique with the available literature by simulation, and the results showed a significant increase in the vacation time of the nodes of WSNs.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) play a crucial role in the Internet of Things (IoT) for ubiquitous data acquisition and tracking. However, the limited battery life of sensor nodes poses significant challenges to the long-term scalability and sustainability of these networks. Wireless power transfer technology offers a promising solution by enabling the recharging of energy-depleted nodes through a wireless portable charging device (WPCD). While this approach can extend node lifespan, it also introduces the challenge of bottleneck nodes—nodes whose remaining energy falls below a critical value of the threshold. The paper addresses this issue by formulating an optimization problem that aims to identify the optimal traveling path for the WPCD based on ant colony optimization (WPCD-ACO), with a focus on minimizing energy consumption and enhancing network stability. To achieve it, we propose an objective function by incorporating a time-varying z phase that is managed through linear programming to efficiently address the bottleneck nodes. Additionally, a gateway node continually updates the remaining energy levels of all nodes and relays this information to the IoT cloud. Our findings indicate that the outage-optimal distance achieved by WPCD-ACO is 6092 m, compared to 7225 m for the shortest path and 6142 m for Dijkstra’s algorithm. Furthermore, the WPCD-ACO minimizes energy consumption to 1.543 KJ, significantly outperforming other methods: single-hop at 4.8643 KJ, GR-Protocol at 3.165 KJ, grid clustering at 2.4839 KJ, and C-SARSA at 2.5869 KJ, respectively. Monte Carlo simulations validate that WPCD-ACO is outshining the existing methods in terms of the network lifetime, stability, survival rate of sensor nodes, and energy consumption.

Sigma Delta Radio over Fiber (S-DRoF) systems are looked upon as an enabling technology due to their advantages that comes due to combination of analog and digital radio over fiber (RoF) systems. In this paper, we have proposed and experimentally demonstrated a Multi-stAge-noise-SHaping (MASH) based Sigma Delta Modulated RoF system targeting 5G C-RAN (cloud/centralized radio access network) fronthaul applications. The evaluation has been done for LTE 20 MHz signal having 256 quadrature amplitude modulation with a carrier frequency of 3.5 GHz up to 5 Km of Standard Single Mode Fiber (SSMF). Furthermore, a comprehensive analysis of the design is explained followed by the experimental setup. The performance is reported in terms of error vector magnitude (EVM) and adjacent channel leakage ratio. It is concluded that S-DRoF substantiates the desired range of the 5G C-RAN fronthaul networks.

The TCP/IP streams are pervasive in the fast communication between the sensor nodes over the internet. However, these sensor nodes are dependent upon various sources for provisioning energy and maintaining Quality of Service (QoS). The QoS guarantees the end-to-end reliable communication as it has many constraints that need to be controlled independently. In this article, we propose a methodology to extend the lifetime of these sensor nodes by introducing a novel mobile node as a charger. At the same time, our method introduces an innovative mechanism called initial constant congestion window (ICCW) to handle the congestion of the bottleneck links. The ICCW manages new sending rate for effective utilization of the link capacity by injecting two different threshold values (SSTμ, SSTF) in the TCP procedure. In the end, the simulation work, as compared with the previous TCP techniques, asserts an overall reduction in packet loss, enhancement in throughput, and sending rate, which leads toward the congestion control. Moreover, the continuous recharging technique of the sensor nodes with the help of wireless power transfer makes the WSN as renewable wireless sensor network, which improves its overall lifetime.

Semisupervised support vector machine (S3VM) algorithm mainly depends on the predicted accuracy of unlabeled samples, if lots of misclassified unlabeled samples are added to the training will make the training model performance degrade. Thus, the cuckoo search algorithm (CS) is used to optimize the S3VM which also enhances the model performance of S3VM. Considering that the cuckoo search algorithm is limited to the local optimum problem, a new cuckoo search algorithm based on chaotic catfish effect optimization is proposed. First, use the chaotic mechanism with high randomness to initialize the nest for range expansion. Second, chaotic catfish nest is introduced into the effective competition coordination mechanism after falling into the local optimum, so that the candidate’s nest can jump out of the local optimal solution and accelerate the convergence ability. In the experiment, results show that the improved cuckoo search algorithm is effective and better than the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm and the cuckoo search algorithm on the benchmark functions. In the end, the improved cuckoo search algorithm is used to optimize semisupervised SVM which is applied into oil layer recognition. Results show that this optimization model is superior to the semisupervised SVM in terms of recognition rate and time.
