Introduction. In recent years, a growing variety of technical applications have necessitated the employment of more powerful equipment. Power electronics and megawatt power levels are required in far too many medium voltage motor drives and utility applications. It is challenging to incorporate a medium voltage grid with only one power semiconductor that has been extensively modified. As a result, in high power and medium voltage settings, multiple power converter structure has been offered as a solution. A multilevel converter has high power ratings while also allowing for the utilization of renewable energy sources. Renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic, wind, and fuel cells may be readily connected to a multilevel inverter topology for enhanced outcomes. The novelty of the proposed work consists of a novel modular inverter structure for solar applications that uses fewer switches. Purpose. The proposed architecture is to decrease the number of switches and Total Harmonic Distortions. There is no need for passive filters, and the proposed design enhances power quality by creating distortion-free sinusoidal output voltage as the level count grows while also lowering power losses. Methods. The proposed topology is implemented with MATLAB / Simulink, using gating pulses and various pulse width modulation methodologies. Moreover, the proposed model also has been validated and compared to the hardware system. Results. Total harmonic distortion, number of power switches, output voltage and number of DC sources are compared with conventional topologies. Practical value. The proposed topology has been very supportive for implementing photovoltaic based multilevel inverter, which is connected to large demand in grid.

The article presents a seven-level reduced switch asymmetrical multilevel inverter with two different methods of pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques. Phase disposition (PD) PWM and hybrid variable-frequency phase disposition PWM (HVFPD-PWM) are the two different PWM methods for making the quality of output voltage waveform. In the first method, the unipolar sine reference with triangular carriers is used. In the second method, the hybrid unipolar reference (sinusoidal with trapezoidal) is proposed with variable frequency carriers to generate the switching pulses for asymmetric multilevel inverter (MLI). The main objective of this proposed method is to reduce the total harmonic distortion in the output voltage waveforms. A comprehensive comparison of the proposed HVFPD-PWM and the conventional PD-PWM with asymmetrical seven-level inverter is presented to show the enriched performances of the proposed method. The performance and viability of the suggested PWM are evaluated through simulation and experimental results using an asymmetrical seven-level inverter. The total harmonic distortion for the proposed PWM method (16.95%) is significantly reduced as compared with the conventional PWM method (18.01%) at the modulation index of one.

Transformer is crucial equipment in the transmission of electric power. Various types of insulating materials used in the transformer among those mineral oil or transformer oil is used for the insulation. To reduce the failure percentage of transformer it is necessary to maintain the purity of oil. This paper investigates work on different properties of aged transformer oils and pure transformer oil. The aged oils are taken as filtered and unfiltered after using in the transformer. The electrical, physical and chemical properties are investigated for pure and aged transformer oils. UV-spectroscopy is used to test the quality of oil based on the absorbance value and FTIR analysis is performed to determine the functional groups existing in the pure and aged transformer oils. The results showed that breakdown strength is less for used transformer oil due to formation of acidic functional groups. The absorption peak is high for unfiltered oil followed by filtered oil and pure oil.

Multiple factors outside our control can contribute to the unanticipated breakdown of electrical power networks. It is of the utmost importance to prevent unforeseen power system issues from affecting other components of the protective system. It is the job of the protective systems to identify and categorize potentially dangerous voltage and/or current lines. To isolate the malfunctioning line, utilize the protection relay to trigger the circuit breaker. An SVM-CNN architecture is presented in this study for the purpose of detecting power outages in transmission lines. When it comes to preprocessing, feature selection, and training models, the correct sequence of activities is crucial. For anomaly-based fault detection algorithms to accurately represent and understand the data, data preprocessing is essential. Feature selection makes the process more feasible by reducing the entire data volume and helping HIF detection home in on the most relevant features. The results were evident with an accuracy improvement reaching 95.70%.
