Dr. Spyridon Rapsomanikis was a professor at the Democritus
University of Thrace, Greece. Now, Leader of the Unit for Environmental
and Networking Technologies and Applications of the Research
Center ATHENA, GREECE.
He obtained his B.Sc. from the Department of Chemistry, Sheffield Hallam University, U.K. in 1980,
and his Ph.D. from the School of Chemistry, Leicester DeMontfort University, U.K. in 1983.
From 1983 to 1985, he was a post-doctoral research associate at the Department of Chemistry,
University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH, USA. From 1985 to 1987, he was a
Senior Research Oficer at the Department of Chemistry, University of Essex,
Colchester, UK. From 1988 to 1990, he was an assistant professor at the
Department of Chemical Engineering, Aristotelian University, Greece. From 1990
to 1997, he was the group leader of “Ocean Atmosphere Interactions” in the Max
Planck Institute for Chemistry, Biogeochemistry Department, Germany. In 1998,
he joined the Laboratory of Atmospheric Pollution and of Pollution Control
Engineering of Atmospheric Pollutants, Department of Environmental Engineering,
Democritus University of Thrace. His research interests mainly include
atmospheric pollution, dispersion of atmospheric pollutants, climate change,
determination of greenhouse gases and aerosols, fluxes of climate-relevant
gases and aerosols, micrometeorology, and biogeochemistry.
