Professor Ram Ramanathan is a Professor at the College of Business Administration, University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. He is a visiting professor at Essex Business School, the University of Essex, Colchester, UK. In the past, he has worked and taught in a number of countries, including the UK, Finland, the Netherlands, Oman and India. He has taught basic and advanced courses on Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Optimization Theory, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), and others. His research interests include operations management and the use of Big Data and the Internet of Things technologies for productivity improvement in enterprises and for social causes. Ram has successfully completed more than 48 research projects across the world with funding more than £8 million. Ram is on the editorial boards of several journals and in the technical/advisory committees of several international conferences in his field. He was a member of ESRC Peer Review College in the UK and reviews applications submitted to various funding bodies. He has produced six books (including a new book on Big Data Analytics using Multi-Criteria Decision Making, and an introductory textbook on DEA), more than 160 research publications in journals and more than 203 conference presentations. His research articles have appeared in many prestigious internationally refereed journals including Omega, Journal of Business Ethics and Technology Forecasting and Social Change.
