Segmenting brain tumors automatically using MR data is crucial for disease investigation and monitoring. Due to the aggressive nature and diversity of gliomas, well-organized and exact segmentation methods are used to classify tumors intra-tumorally. The proposed technique uses a Gray Level Co-occurrence matrix extraction of features approach to strip out unwanted details from the images. In comparison with the current state of the art, the accuracy of brain tumor segmentation was significantly improved using Convolutional Neural Networks, which are frequently used in the field of biomedical image segmentation. By merging the results of two separate segmentation networks, the proposed method demonstrates a major but simple combinatorial strategy that, as a direct consequence, yields much more precise and complete estimates. A U-Net and a Three-Dimensional Convolutional Neural Network. These networks are used to break up images into their component parts. Following that, the prediction was constructed using two distinct models that were combined in a number of ways. In comparison to existing state-of-the-art designs, the proposed method achieves the mean accuracy (%) of 99.40, 98.46, 98.29, precision (%) of 99.41, 98.51, 98.35, F-Score (%) of 99.4, 98.29, 98.46 and sensitivity (%) of 99.39, 98.41, 98.25 for the whole tumor, enhanced tumor, tumor core on the validation set, respectively.

Quality of Service (QoS) refers to techniques that function on a network to dependably execute high-priority applications and traffic reliably run high-priority applications and traffic even when the network’s capacity is limited. It is expected that data transmission over next-generation WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks) 5G (5th generation) and beyond will increase significantly, especially for multimedia content such as video. Installing multiple IoT (Internet of Things refers to the network of devices that are all connected to each other) nodes on top of 5G networks makes the design more challenging. Maintaining a minimal level of service quality becomes more challenging as data volume and network density rise. QoS is critical in modern networks because it ensures critical performance metrics and improves end-user experience. Every client attempts to fulfill QoS access needs by selecting the optimal access device(s). Controllers will then identify optimum routes to meet clients’ core QoS needs in their core network. QoS-aware delivery is one of the most important aspects of wireless communications. Various models are proposed in the literature; however, an adaptive buffer size according to service type, priority, and incoming communication requests is required to ensure QoS-aware wireless communication. This article offers a hybrid end-to-end QoS delivery method involving customers and controllers and proposes a QoS-aware service delivery model for various types of communication with an adaptive buffer size according to the priority of the incoming service requests. For this purpose, this paper evaluates various QoS delivery models devised for service delivery in real time over IP networks. Multiple vulnerabilities are outlined that weaken QoS delivery in different models. Performance optimization is needed to ensure QoS delivery in next-generation WSN networks. This paper addresses the shortcomings of the existing service delivery models for real-time communication. An efficient queuing mechanism is adopted that assigns priorities based on input data type and queue length. This queuing mechanism ensures QoS efficiency in limited bandwidth networks and real-time traffic. The model reduces the over-provisioning of resources, delay, and packet loss ratio. The paper contributes a symmetrically-designed traffic engineering model for QoS-ensured service delivery for next-generation WSNs. A dynamic queuing mechanism that assigns priorities based on input data type and queue length is proposed to ensure QoS for wireless next-generation networks. The proposed queuing mechanism discusses topological symmetry to ensure QoS efficiency in limited bandwidth networks with real-time communication. The experimental results describe that the proposed model reduces the over-provisioning of resources, delay, and packet loss ratio.

Accurate and early detection of machine faults is an important step in the preventive maintenance of industrial enterprises. It is essential to avoid unexpected downtime as well as to ensure the reliability of equipment and safety of humans. In the case of rotating machines, significant information about machine’s health and condition is present in the spectrum of its vibration signal. This work proposes a fault detection system of rotating machines using vibration signal analysis. First, a dataset of 3-dimensional vibration signals is acquired from large induction motors representing healthy and faulty states. The signal conditioning is performed using empirical mode decomposition technique. Next, multi-domain feature extraction is done to obtain various combinations of most discriminant temporal and spectral features from the denoised signals. Finally, the classification step is performed with various kernel settings of multiple classifiers including support vector machines, K-nearest neighbors, decision tree and linear discriminant analysis. The classification results demonstrate that a hybrid combination of time and spectral features, classified using support vector machines with Gaussian kernel achieves the best performance with 98.2% accuracy, 96.6% sensitivity, 100% specificity and 1.8% error rate.

Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) has become a promising evolution with the emergence of fifth-generation (5G) and Beyond-5G (B5G) rollouts. The potentials of NOMA are to increase the number of users, the system’s capacity, massive connectivity, and enhance the spectrum and energy efficiency in future communication scenarios. However, the practical deployment of NOMA is hindered by the inflexibility caused by the offline design paradigm and non-unified signal processing approaches of different NOMA schemes. The recent innovations and breakthroughs in deep learning (DL) methods have paved the way to adequately address these challenges. The DL-based NOMA can break these fundamental limits of conventional NOMA in several aspects, including throughput, bit-error-rate (BER), low latency, task scheduling, resource allocation, user pairing and other better performance characteristics. This article aims to provide firsthand knowledge of the prominence of NOMA and DL and surveys several DL-enabled NOMA systems. This study emphasizes Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC), Channel State Information (CSI), impulse noise (IN), channel estimation, power allocation, resource allocation, user fairness and transceiver design, and a few other parameters as key performance indicators of NOMA systems. In addition, we outline the integration of DL-based NOMA with several emerging technologies such as intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS), mobile edge computing (MEC), simultaneous wireless and information power transfer (SWIPT), Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), and multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO). This study also highlights diverse, significant technical hindrances in DL-based NOMA systems. Finally, we identify some future research directions to shed light on paramount developments needed in existing systems as a probable to invigorate further contributions for DL-based NOMA system.

Diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) are a common and serious complication in individuals with diabetes, and early detection plays a crucial role in effective treatment and prevention of further complications. Automated DFU Detection and Classification using Deep learning (DL) refers to the application of deep learning techniques to automatically detect and classify diabetic foot ulcers from medical images. DL, a subfield of machine learning, has shown promising results in medical imaging analysis, including diabetic foot ulcer detection. The use of deep learning in DFU detection provides various benefits, including the ability to learn complex features, adaptability to different image modalities, and the potential for high accuracy in detection and classification tasks. Therefore, this article introduces a novel sparrow search optimization (SSO) with deep learning enabled diabetic foot ulcer detection and classification (SSODL-DFUDC) technique. The presented SSODL-DFUDC technique’s goal lies in identifying and classifying DFU. The proposed technique employs the Inception-ResNet-v2 model for feature vector generation to accomplish this. Since the trial and error manual hyperparameter tuning of the Inception-ResNet-v2 model is a tedious and erroneous process, the SSO algorithm can be used for the optimal hyperparameter selection of the Inception-ResNet-v2 model which in turn enhances the overall DFU classification results. Moreover, the classification of DFU takes place using the stacked sparse autoencoder (SSAE) model. The comprehensive experimental outcomes demonstrate the improved performance of the SSODL-DFUDC system related to existing DL techniques.

In December 2019, the global pandemic COVID-19 in Wuhan, China, affected human life and the worldwide economy. Therefore, an efficient diagnostic system is required to control its spread. However, the automatic diagnostic system poses challenges with a limited amount of labeled data, minor contrast variation, and high structural similarity between infection and background. In this regard, a new two-phase deep convolutional neural network (CNN) based diagnostic system is proposed to detect minute irregularities and analyze COVID-19 infection. In the first phase, a novel SB-STM-BRNet CNN is developed, incorporating a new channel Squeezed and Boosted (SB) and dilated convolutional-based Split-Transform-Merge (STM) block to detect COVID-19 infected lung CT images. The new STM blocks performed multi-path region-smoothing and boundary operations, which helped to learn minor contrast variation and global COVID-19 specific patterns. Furthermore, the diverse boosted channels are achieved using the SB and Transfer Learning concepts in STM blocks to learn texture variation between COVID-19-specific and healthy images. In the second phase, COVID-19 infected images are provided to the novel COVID-CB-RESeg segmentation CNN to identify and analyze COVID-19 infectious regions. The proposed COVID-CB-RESeg methodically employed region-homogeneity and heterogeneity operations in each encoder-decoder block and boosted-decoder using auxiliary channels to simultaneously learn the low illumination and boundaries of the COVID-19 infected region. The proposed diagnostic system yields good performance in terms of accuracy: 98.21 %, F-score: 98.24%, Dice Similarity: 96.40 %, and IOU: 98.85 % for the COVID-19 infected region. The proposed diagnostic system would reduce the burden and strengthen the radiologist's decision for a fast and accurate COVID-19 diagnosis.
