Dr. Shangbo Yang is an Associate Professor in the School of Geography and Remote Sensing at Guangzhou University. His research focuses on retrieving water quality parameters and investigating coastal phytoplankton bloom dynamics through satellite remote sensing and geospatial techniques, with emphasis on long-term patterns, environmental drivers, and identification of dominant bloom-forming species.
Dr. Yang has published in high-impact journals such as Nature and the Journal of Hydrology. Currently, his research is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Youth Science Fund. He earned his PhD in Cartography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from Wuhan University in 2021 and subsequently served as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Assistant Professor at the Southern University of Science and Technology until 2025.
