Tom is an Associate Professor in cyber security in the Department of Electronic & Computer Engineering at the University of Limerick (UL). He holds a B.Eng. in Computer Engineering, a Masters in Engineering in Security Protocol Design, and a PhD in Formal Logics for Security Protocol Verification. Tom was the Course Director for the BSc in Cyber Security & IT Forensics in UL (2010 to 2021) and is the UL lead for the CyberSkills initiative - creating innovative, enterprise-focused and research-informed cybersecurity courses. His main area of interest is IT and OT security convergence and compliance issues.
