Information

Prof. Ahmad Ali is an Assistant Professor and a Lecturer of the Department of Life Sciences at the University of Bombay. He completed his MS studies in Pharm and Ph.D. studies in Biotechnology at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research. His laboratory is working on the assessment of the process of oxidative stress and glucose toxicity, glycation. This process begins with an interaction between the carbonyl group of sugars and the amino group of other biomolecules. It results in the generation of many harmful products, which are known as advanced glycation end products (AGEs). These products have been implicated in various pathophysiological conditions. The complications are due to the structural alteration of DNA and proteins.
